Those who are worthy to listen, and because of that, it is said that merit is extremely abundant, therefore, the Bhagavan taught "Subhuti, whoever" and so on. This shows that the Dharmakaya realized by the Tathagatas is the cause of merit, and it must arise from the spoken Dharmakaya, so for the time being, even if only a four-line verse is taught from it, it becomes a place of birth of merit in this way, then the Dharmakaya realized by the Tathagatas is the cause of merit, what need is there to say? Thus it is said. Although this does not have the meaning of words, it is understood by implication, so this meaning is without fault. Therefore, even if there is no teaching of Dharma ultimately, or no actual perfect enlightenment, but in the conventional truth there is the teaching of the body of merit, so Bodhisattvas should enter in order to obtain merit, that is what they think. By showing the excellence of merit, it shows its vastness. It also shows the desire to generate it, and the initiation of aspirations. Because the verse also has six root lines, it is specifically said to be four lines. The so-called verse is not diligence, but from a single sentence, only the words of a four-line verse are grasped. The so-called after grasping, is recitation. The so-called explanation is the words. The so-called truly showing is the meaning. The so-called countless is because it is extremely non-existent. The so-called inconceivable is because it is not the object of metaphor. This actually means that it completely eliminates the unfavorable aspects of not generating merit. Just saying the name of merit shows all the accumulations of merit of the Tathagatas. Is this just to be believed? Or should it also be understood through reason? Thinking like this, and asking "What is this for?", here, Subhuti, the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment of the Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened ones, arises from this, thus reason is taught. Thinking like this, the so-called great merit is also because the fruit is great, so it is great merit, but because it has no body, it is not by its own nature.

The merit arising from precious jewels obtains ordinary results of samsara such as great enjoyment, but if it is grasped by wisdom, then generosity and so forth obtain the result of great enlightenment, but those are not ultimate. By giving the Dharma, one obtains the incomparable and inexhaustible state of the Tathagata, why does it not appear great? Just as the Dharma can benefit, jewels cannot greatly benefit others. In this way, by skillfully teaching others in stages, one will attain the state of Buddhahood more quickly than by means of jewels. Therefore, because the Dharma is the supreme method of benefiting others, it is thought that the giving of the Dharma is superior to the giving of jewels. The term "arising from this" means that it is truly established, relying on the ten practices, and subsequently obtained by passing from one to another, that is its definition. These ten practices are: writing, offering, giving, reading, listening, holding, explaining, reciting, thinking, and meditating. The statement "The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, also arise from this" means that in conventional truth, the Buddhas are designated in dependence on this, that is its definition. But in ultimate truth, enlightenment and the Buddhas are not different. By showing the excellence of merit, this shows that one should generate the desire to create it and abide in it through aspiration. If, in ultimate truth, all dharmas are unborn, then at that time all the dharmas of the Buddhas would also become unborn, so how could the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment arise from this? Thinking that the Buddhas are not different from enlightenment, and asking for what reason, here the answer is given as "the dharmas of the Buddhas." The dharmas of the characteristics such as the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, which have the cause of being designated as Buddhas, are the dharmas of the Buddhas. Therefore, the Buddhas are not different from enlightenment in ultimate truth, but because it is the cause of designating the Buddhas,

It is said that the earth arose from this, which is the meaning. They mean that since these have not arisen in the ultimate sense, even if there is no Buddha Dharma, relying on the conventional truth, the Tathagatas say things like "Unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment arises from this," but this is not the ultimate truth. Therefore, one cannot speak in the ultimate sense of "the Buddha's teachings arise from that direction," because that is something to be understood individually, because it is unspeakable. That is what they mean. This shows entering into yoga and cutting off distraction, and also shows profundity. Here, some say, since the Dharmakaya has no difference, how can these three different bodies change? Or, is it that obtaining the Dharmakaya, and because it is the same cause as the Dharmakaya, the nature of merit and the nature of speech are called Dharmakaya through investigation? If that is the case, then the Rupakaya will also become the Dharmakaya because it has the same cause for obtaining it and is the cause for obtaining it, they would say. That is not true, because the Dharmakaya of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, is the nature of completely pure wisdom, and it is classified according to what is its common nature. This is not an explanation of the difference of its Vipaka, nor is it shown here as Dharma by relying on merit. Then what is it like? It is only the thing itself, teaching the Dharma, and giving the Dharma, etc., because it is famous in that way by itself. Any Dharma that holds its own and common characteristics, because it is common to all things, the Rupakaya is not shown as the Tathagata, because it is not knowledge. Even if it has been shown by relying on it, the Rupakaya will not become the Dharmakaya, because it has the same cause as merit. As it is said: In short, the Dharmakaya of the Victorious Ones, arises from the collection of wisdom. The Rupakaya of the Buddhas, arises from the collection of merit. It is said. Therefore, only the collection of wisdom
