Adā. The Blessed One himself also said, "The Buddha will not pass into nirvana, nor will the Dharma decline. For the sake of fully ripening sentient beings, nirvana is shown." It is said. Let us begin the chapter with a very extensive discussion. Thus, "seeing the Tathagata, prostrating," and so on, is the conclusion of the meaning of the chapter. Some doubt that if the manifested form is reversed and clung to another form, it is meaningful to see the Tathagata. Therefore, Manjushri said, "Manjushri, what do you see when you look like that?" and so on. "Looking like that, nothing is seen" is the answer, meaning except for what is understood by oneself. Others doubt, "This Manjushri is following a difficult meaning. He is in a state of not seeing anything, and the Tathagata is also seen, and with a compassionate intention pervading all realms of sentient beings. With bodhicitta as the guide, diligence has perfected the accumulation of merit and wisdom, and with non-discriminating wisdom, sentient beings are not fixated upon, and even with discriminating thoughts, there is no clinging to appearances, and entering into that, for the time being, this is also very difficult to understand. What need is there to say for someone like me?" When they express this doubt, the noble Shariputra said to Manjushri, "Manjushri, you see the Tathagata like that," and so on, until "putting on great armor for the sake of all sentient beings, that is the difficult thing you do." "Great compassion" means being motivated by bodhicitta, wanting to give all sentient beings happiness without fault. Others say, "This is unconditioned compassion." "Even if entering in order to completely liberate all sentient beings from suffering" means to achieve Buddhahood for the benefit of beings, it is for generating bodhicitta. "Armor" means the nature of diligence, being happy to subdue beings. That armor also exists in the manner of clinging and so on. Thus

What is said as "Thus indeed" means that you acknowledge that it is indeed difficult to practice because one follows the Dharma that is not suitable for those who are devoted to inferiority. Although sentient beings are not fixated upon, it is shown that the armor of sentient beings liberating from suffering is not contradictory, because in order for all sentient beings to be completely liberated from suffering, this armor is also assigned to the stage of practicing with devotion. The statement "I do not fixate on any sentient being" is because the characteristics of grasping and being grasped are abandoned. If it is said, "That is correct," it is not so, because even if that is absent, it is still an illusion caused by sentient beings' imputation. Why? Because of that reason. Because I have become devoid of any fixation on sentient beings, because I exist like a magician. For example, just as a magician has no fixation on a magical elephant, etc., so too is my fixation on sentient beings, that is his thought. The summarized meaning here is this: Those who are adorned with great compassion, who have the intention of great Bodhi, and who have abandoned all fixations, initially meditate on it as the Dharma of the mind, like a disgusting headless wanderer. When all the roots of conceptualization are abandoned, it becomes clear, and for those with unwavering superior intention, there is no difficulty at all. For those who are timid in the practice of meditation, everything seems extremely difficult. Isn't this exposition composed in order to make sentient beings belonging to samsara and nirvana, according to their order, become less and less, and more and more? If it is said, how can there be no fixation on and manifestation of sentient beings? Therefore, it was said, "Do not think that way." If asked, "How is it?" Like this, it was said, "Should I decrease or increase the realm of sentient beings?" If asked, "What fault is there in such armor?" Therefore, taking the venerable Sharadvatiputra as an example, he said, "If," etc., and the reason shown is clear. "If" means "in case." "There is no manifestation of being filled" means "not fixating."
