The Extensive Explanation of the Seven Hundred Prajñāpāramitā, the Noble One. Teacher Kamalaśrīla. The Extensive Explanation of the Seven Hundred Prajñāpāramitā, the Noble One. Teacher Kamalaśrīla. In Sanskrit: Āryasaptaśatīkāprajñāpāramitāṭīkā. In Tibetan: The Extensive Explanation of the Seven Hundred Prajñāpāramitā, the Noble One. First Chapter. I constantly prostrate to the one who sees all, who holds the immaculate blue lotus in hand. This is composed for the sake of the self-nature of the Tathāgata and those who have gone astray on the path, in order to reveal its self-nature without inversion. However I have seen, one should view the Tathāgata in that way. If one practices the Prajñāpāramitā, one will quickly awaken to unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. "Thus," and so on, are the words spoken by the compiler, summarizing and explaining all the meanings of the sūtras. "I" means that I received the transmission from myself, not from others. This shows that it was heard directly from the lotus mouth of the Blessed One. "Heard" means experiencing through ear consciousness, not realization, because no one other than the Tathāgata has the power to comprehend such a Dharma. "At one time" means at one time, because it is impossible to focus on such a precious sūtra at all times. This shows that it is occasional, thus showing that it is difficult to find. Or, "At one time I heard," and at other times I heard other kinds of Dharma, thus indirectly stating that one has heard a lot, like the compassionate king of medicine. Some say that "at one time" means that a moment is called one time, because by the power of the Blessed One, the compiler can perceive all the meanings of the sūtras in one moment, and a mind consciousness with a form consistent with ear consciousness arises, just as in a dream, by the power of the gods, one can focus on hundreds of years even in a short time.

Therefore, in order to compile the Sutras, and for the benefit of other beings to be tamed, later when teaching the Dharma, it is impossible to always be in a state of Samadhi in the interim. If the mind is focused on other places not indicated in Nalung, it will not be contradictory to compile all the Sutras later, because the Tathagata, by his power, can cause the wisdom that makes all meanings appear perfectly to arise in that way. This is never enough for the taste of the nectar of listening to the Dharma. If the remaining groups of beings to be tamed do not change in this way, how could it be? The assembly of completely pure Bodhisattvas will change in this way. It is said that in a single moment, one should pass beyond countless inexpressible world realms of the eastern direction. Similarly, apply this to the ten directions, and offer flowers and all arrangements to the Tathagatas in all the worlds without exception. I know all that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, speak and teach. Thus he spoke. For the rest, there is no change, because there is no special merit, so they cannot grasp it with certainty. Alternatively, the last phrase "residing in Shravasti" should be understood in conjunction with "at one time." Because he has conquered the four Maras, or because he possesses qualities such as freedom, he is the Bhagavan. Residing means abiding. Or, it attracts and guides various beings to be tamed. In other cases, there are residences in places such as Rajagriha and Vaishali. Why does one who acts for the benefit of others, like one who focuses on his own benefit, cling to one place and reside? The Sutra implies that that place is also worthy of offering. Shravasti is mentioned as the victorious king because it is vast and has many aspects. In the grove mixed with young women, it is the Jeta Grove purchased by Anathapindika. The division of regions and so on shown by the Sutra is to conform to the world, because worldly people are like this.

If a dispute arises, those who wish to use terms, those who debate by stating differences such as location, appear to be teaching grammar. In the phrase "abiding together with the great Sangha of monks," the "great Sangha of monks" should be regarded as having abandoned the obscurations of afflictions, and because of possessing great qualities. Therefore, it is called Sangha, because it cannot be distinguished by opponents such as demons, and because it has become steadfast by abiding in the same purpose. Why are the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas mentioned later? Since those who have become the eldest sons should be mentioned first. The Sangha of monks is permanent, so it is mentioned first, while others are not always present, so it is pointed out later. For example, those Bodhisattvas listen to the profound and precious immeasurable Sutras, so these merits go to immeasurable realms, but those who practice as Hearers are not like that. Because of contemplating Bodhi, they are Bodhisattvas. Because of steadfastly contemplating the benefit of others, they are regarded as great heroes. Therefore, it is said that because they separate their own benefit from the benefit of others, they are clad in great armor. In order to proclaim their vehicle, many people gathered. The noble Manjushri Bodhisattva, seeing that many benefits and happiness would arise, and without even waiting for the sun to rise, very eagerly went to the abode of the Tathagata. Dawn is appearance. Its rising is emergence. That is time. Why is this called the present time by what? Because it is the object of designation. Therefore, that is the time of designation, not the permanent time established by the Vaisheshikas, because the nature of one thing should not have differences such as morning. Having come from his own abode, he went to the palace of the Bhagavan Tathagata in whatever direction, that is, the room in which the Bhagavan Tathagata abides, and having arrived, he stood outside the door of the palace. Or, the Bodhisattva arose from his own abode of fruition, from which path
