Therefore, any son or daughter of good family who, having heard this teaching, does not become deluded and does not become doubtful, that is also said to be irreversible and follows after it. If enlightenment is attained through those methods, then it would follow that it is conditioned. Since it is conditioned, it would also be abandoned. If that were the case, then the one who attains enlightenment and the object of enlightenment would also have to exist. If that were the case, then that itself would contradict emptiness, so some people have doubts. Therefore, in order to eliminate the attachment to conditioned phenomena themselves, they asked: "Bhagavan, does the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment necessarily arise from a cause?" If that were the case, they would doubt that those who attain enlightenment, the one who attains enlightenment, and the object of enlightenment are not without error, that is their thought. Necessarily arising from a cause is synonymous with "birth." The answer is: "Manjushri, that is not so." Differentiating what the teaching is, that is: "Unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment has no cause and does not necessarily arise from a cause." Then, since there is no doubt and no question, why do you prevent the very cause of enlightenment? It is in order to clearly show that there is no cause whatsoever and no result whatsoever. Why is that? Because the inconceivable manifestations of the Buddhas have already been shown many times to be the cause itself, and it has just been shown to be the result itself. Why is it said that there is no cause and that it does not necessarily arise from a cause? Non-arising and non-existence are not causes, and so forth, this is the answer. Because this thing does not have birth, it is non-arising. Similarly, this is called non-existence, this is shown only as pervasive, depending on the difference of those to be tamed. Even though it is not said to be solely the dharma of that aspect, it is only to be understood. The connection should be done like this: whatever is non-arising or non-existent, that is not a cause and does not necessarily arise from a cause.

It is not, like the son of a eunuch and so on. To say that "unborn and non-things are also bodhi" is contradictory to pervasiveness. Why is that? The thought is that arising through skillful means is the play of all Buddhas, but that is impossible for what is separated from birth and things. The answer is that all dharmas are unborn. Whatever possesses the nature of being examined is unborn and unarisen, and this bodhi also belongs to that category. Like this, the opponents have doubts about the fact that achieving bodhi and so on is not true. Although it cannot be said that it is not all conceptualizations and that bodhi is true, relying on conventional truth, it is said like this: "That is not without cause, nor is it necessarily not arising from cause," because that is a teaching of skillful means. Furthermore, according to the way shown earlier, bodhi is also the nature of being unborn in ultimate truth, so it is taught that way.

The word "yes" means to summarize. Also, those who only make aspirations in the form of Sutra Pitaka, Abhidhamma Pitaka, and Vinaya Pitaka, and engage in activities such as giving, they are practicing the bodhisattva's training. After practicing, if one can quickly attain enlightenment, then why is it necessary to strive in the Prajnaparamita? Therefore, it is said: Manjushri, whether it is a son or daughter of good family, if they do not study this profound Prajnaparamita, then they are not studying the bodhisattva's training. Like this, without striving in the Prajnaparamita, there is no pure wisdom. Without pure wisdom, there is no pure collection of merit. Without pure wisdom, there is no pure collection of merit. Without it, there is no enlightenment, that is the intention. To clarify this point with an example, Manjushri, for example, a ghost town and so on. A ghost town is trees. The collection of seeds is the five seeds. Can't the Shravaka Vehicle practitioners also increase and expand the virtuous dharmas by other means? As it is said, if one possesses these seven things that produce merit from matter, then merit will constantly increase without interruption, and merit will only arise. However, those who listen to the Prajnaparamita do not have these, so how can it be said like this? Manjushri, similarly, all the virtuous dharmas of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas and so on. Saying it like this, one will not deceive the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Because without skillful means, even after countless eons, one cannot attain enlightenment. Some will hold on to it, even up to showing it, isn't there a change? This is a question from the heart. Or it is just a literal reading. This point was also asked by the great venerable Kashyapa before, wouldn't there be a fault of repetition? There will be no such fault, because there it is the teaching of the venerable Manjushri.
