It is also said that "it is not sound," and it is impossible to show the meaning that is not sound. This is the meaning of "cannot be expressed." The meaning is this: how can the inner expression itself, like being attached to one's own form in the meaning of the sound of the general aspect, also not exist? Because it possesses attachment as it is, and because it has not realized that suchness as it is. Then, some monks have this idea: because this is to enter into inconceivable samadhi, it is not ordinary people, etc. Therefore, some say that this alone is enough to boast of being inconceivable. In response, the Blessed One asked: Manjushri, do you enter into inconceivable samadhi? To refute this, it is "Blessed One, it is not like that." To analyze this, it is "I do not enter into inconceivable samadhi." Why is that? This is to distinguish, if so, how can one not enter into that samadhi? The answer is: Blessed One, because I myself am inconceivable samadhi. The sound of samadhi mentioned earlier should also be removed from the heart with this meaning. It transforms like this: Blessed One, if I were conceivable, then I could enter into inconceivable samadhi. This is to say, if there is something different from inconceivable samadhi. This meaning also does not exist. Thus, Blessed One, the so-called inconceivable samadhi is inconceivable, inconceivable, immeasurable. Because it is inconceivable, it is beyond thought, so in reality it is immeasurable. Samadhi is only mentioned verbally. Therefore, how can I enter into inconceivable samadhi? Because there is nothing different, I do not enter. When a single moment of consciousness arises,

If, for the arising that possesses the nature of inconceivable samadhi, there is no one who correctly enters, no entering, and no object to be entered, then how can I, at that time, enter the inconceivable samadhi, or have entered, or will enter? Some say "beyond thought," "without object of thought," "inconceivable," and the meaning of that is also this: Because it transcends the nature of what is to be thought, it is beyond thought. Therefore, it is without object of thought, because it is not what should be thought. The third is a concluding word. If that is the case, then how will the thought "I enter the inconceivable samadhi" arise? Therefore, it is said: Even so, O Bhagavan, when I, prior to obtaining the excellence of meditation, first begin to strive, I will think, "I will enter the inconceivable samadhi," desiring to attain the state of the Sugata. If asked, "Is that thought gone?" The answer is: O Bhagavan, now the thought "I enter this inconceivable samadhi" no longer arises in my mind. Here, it is in order to answer with the example previously given. O Bhagavan, it is said, "For example..." and so on. The archery teacher is one who is skilled in shooting. When he first begins to learn, he will think, "I will hit the large target, the cattle post." The cattle post is the post to which cattle are tied. When that archery teacher hits a fine strand of hair, he will no longer think, "I will hit the cattle post." Why not? Because he has become well accustomed to hitting the hair. If he is skilled at hitting a fine strand of hair, then hitting a cattle post is even more obvious.

It means the word 'need'. If practice reaches its peak, when an archery teacher wants to shoot an arrow, he will hit the target without effort, because he is accustomed to shooting arrows. World Honored One, similarly, 'I previously...' etc., this is to combine the meaning of the metaphor with the actual meaning. When I have gradually eliminated all scattered discursive thoughts, entered into samadhi, and abide in this samadhi with the nature of this samadhi, I will no longer think, 'I will abide in this samadhi.' Again, if one has not practiced very diligently, attachment would have arisen previously, but now it does not arise. Why is that? Because if a thought arises about this samadhi, and that thought increases, then it will be thought that this thought will also increase. The answer to this is, 'When abiding in this samadhi...' etc. This samadhi cannot be established because there is no discursive thought. Because there is no discursive thought of establishing 'I will abide' etc., it cannot be established. The absence of discursive thought is also because it is the nature of samadhi. The monk thinks that because there is another very peaceful samadhi, he does not trust this samadhi, therefore discursive thought does not arise. Therefore, the World Honored One, Manjushri Kumara, said, 'When abiding in the inconceivable samadhi, do not trust this samadhi.' If it is said 'cannot be established', it is because one has not recognized that this samadhi itself is very peaceful. Thinking that there is something more peaceful than this, this is thinking from the perspective of other beings. World Honored One, he asked, 'Is there a samadhi more peaceful than this inconceivable samadhi?' Temporarily pointing out the fault in speech is: 'Son of Sharadvati, how do you know that this inconceivable samadhi is peaceful?' Isn't the monk asking about another very peaceful samadhi?
