In order to dispel the doubt that it is called "my Tathagata." Manjushri, do you think of me in this way: Is the Tathagata my Tathagata? The Blessed One asked. "On the mind" is a superfluous word. These two words show attachment, like this, it is only a term, and it is obvious from repeated statements. "Blessed One, no" is a rebuttal to attachment. Why? It means, how can you, as such a famous son of the Tathagata, not be attached to your father? "Blessed One, I do not think so, the Tathagata is my Tathagata" is the answer. Someone asked: Isn't the rebuttal itself taken as the answer? No, because there is a difference. Because one does not think so, one is attached to one's own essence, and the previous faults are constantly and strongly produced. "The Tathagata is my Tathagata" is just a term. Therefore, following this, it shows that my attachment will not arise. Why? It means, how can one not be temporarily attached to the father who has perfect merits and is supreme? The answer is: "Blessed One, suchness is the Tathagata." "Is" means "for what reason." Suchness abiding in suchness is the conclusion of the teaching. Suchness refers to the nature of non-grasping and non-grasped. Some people ask for the reason, not to mention that the suchness of that is also suchness, the meaning of that is like this: Blessed One, the reality of that itself is suchness, and the state of being separated from the aspects of grasping and being grasped is the summary of suchness. Instead of saying "the reality of that itself is suchness," it is said that "the reality itself is suchness" in order to prevent the nature of the dharma (something with a certain property) from becoming other things.

In order to know that it shows the state of being free from the aspect of grasping, the Tathagata himself does not distinguish the Tathagata, and the Tathagata also does not distinguish the Suchness. It is said that this is because it is neither anything to be grasped, nor is it to show the nature of Suchness, so it is not distinguished. If asked, what is the reason for this? It means, how do you promise that enlightenment and turning the wheel of Dharma, etc., which are seen by the Buddha's eye, are free from the grasper and the grasped? The answer is: World Honored One, like this, in the ultimate truth, Suchness is not a real entity, and the Tathagata is also not a real entity, for this reason. The so-called Suchness is considered by worldly people to be the grasper and the grasped, but it does not have the nature of that entity. The Tathagata is also like that, only without the real entity of complete imputation, which is also because it does not go beyond the nature of Suchness. In this way, the grasper and the grasped are completely destroyed, and it has been shown that the obstruction of fine dust, etc., has been shown, so this has been established, and there is no need to show it again, just to connect the words and eliminate the place of doubt. The word "ultimate truth" is because the conceptual thought has not been abandoned, and due to the power of manifest attachment, the reality of the grasper and the grasped is conventional truth, which has been acknowledged. In order to further clarify this point, the reason is also shown below, so what is shown by the word "Tathagata" is like this: the essence of things is only a name, the name is the core, but in reality it is empty, up to this point, because in the ultimate truth, all dharmas are unspeakable and unborn. Or, the word "Tathagata" is like this: it is only uttering the name, it is not suitable to be spoken, just like it is said: By name, name is empty, on name, name is not, all dharmas are nameless, name is completely imputed. It is said like this. If so, then in the ultimate truth it exists and becomes the place of speech

If someone says, "The Tathagata is my Tathagata," and clings to this, what is to be abandoned? It is abandoning the thought that "there is nothing." For those who think, "The Tathagata is my Tathagata," and so on, this is what needs to be abandoned. To dispel the doubts of those who are troubled by doubts, even though they have been thoroughly questioned, the Blessed One asked Manjushri, "Do you have doubts about the Tathagata?" "Blessed One, no." This is the answer to the question just asked. If the Tathagata appears with the characteristics of permanence, or is fully established as a nature different from permanence, or the Tathagata is completely extinguished in the nature of constant cessation, or if there is some Tathagata who is fully established, then I have doubts about the Tathagata in that state. These three sentences show the characteristics of conditioned phenomena, that is, anything that is born, ages, and dies can be called Tathagata, but in reality, there is nothing that can be called Tathagata. Therefore, the word Tathagata is only explained as a reason for action, that is, acting in accordance with reality, or realization. Both of these ways of acting have been explained in detail. The Extensive Explanation of the Seven Hundred Prajnaparamita, Volume Four. Some may wonder, if there is no distinction between the three characteristics of conditioned phenomena, then what about the appearance of the Tathagata in the Shakya clan or other clans, and the Tathagata not showing Nirvana and abiding in the world, and the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, who have completely passed into Nirvana? Therefore, the Blessed One asked Manjushri, "Do you think the Tathagata will appear?" Mentioning appearance, it should also be understood as abiding. The initial and continuous appearance is called appearance. The answer is, "Blessed One, if there is appearance in the Dharmadhatu, then I would think the Tathagata will appear."
