Although it is the realm of suchness and so on, it cannot be directly realized. Because permanent things themselves have no other distinctions, they are not needed for the arising of knowledge of their objects, either sequentially or non-sequentially, and therefore they are not desired as objects. Even if distinctions could be established, things would become impermanent. Therefore, when meditation that is not contrary to desire and so on arises, it is established as the realm of freedom from desire and so on. In this way, it is not the case that one focuses on a realm of freedom from desire and so on that is separate from oneself; everything is without confusion. Others think that the mind is not a realm of freedom from desire and so on. If so, how does this meditation benefit some and harm others? Therefore, the Blessed One said, "What dharma does not benefit or harm anything?" Is it not beneficial to offer powers and limbs of enlightenment to the Buddhas? Is it not harmful to cut off the continuity of ordinary beings' attachment to existence and enjoyment? Therefore, the Blessed One said, "The cultivation of the Perfection of Wisdom is not even giving the dharmas of the Buddhas," and so on. If there is nothing to do, how is it called meditation? Therefore, the Blessed One said, "One does not prevent or think about the dharmas of ordinary beings, such as attachment, because destruction has no cause, and separate cessation and so on are also contrary to reason, like a lotus in the sky and so on, they do not truly exist." The so-called non-attainment of the dharmas of the Buddhas is because there is no one who attains them. If that is the case, where is the object? Here, some who strive to attain liberation and definite goodness have this doubt: As the cause of the ladder of higher realms and definite goodness, does it manifest all the supreme qualities and cut off all the accumulations of faults, and remain at all times? Or does it immediately disap

Now, as for the translation: Therefore, in order to fully satisfy them, Mañjuśrī, you have taught such profound Dharma, saying "Good, good!" and so on. It is called "profound" because it is not the realm of practice for Śrāvakas and others. The sign you have set is established at the edge of saṃsāra. The so-called "Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas" are those who practice in the realm of no object of focus. The so-called "Śrāvaka Vehicle holders with pride of attainment" are those who have not actually done it but think that they have. To act with pride of attainment and use terminology is to be a holder of pride of attainment. They have made this Dharma into one vehicle, or have clearly revealed it. If it were not so, then these categories of Dharma, which are the most excellent in the Great Vehicle, would not be for the purpose of enabling them to fully realize it. Mentioning the Śrāvaka Vehicle also implies the Pratyekabuddha Vehicle. The so-called "Bodhisattva Vehicle holders with objects of focus" refers to those who have made aspirations to become Buddhas but have not seen the reality of the Great Vehicle. Declaring that it benefits all beings, then these categories of Dharma would not only benefit a few. To realize things as they truly are is to understand that all dharmas are without inherent existence. If someone asks, how does this benefit those with pride of attainment and those with objects of focus? To those who have not attended to a single Buddha and have not planted roots of virtue with a single Buddha, it is taught in this way. If what is said and so on is not truly existent, they will be terrified and say, "It has killed me!" This explains the sounds of fear, dread, and impending dread in order, with distinctions such as small. Therefore, the meaning is that small, medium, and great fears will not arise. Even though reality has been very clearly shown, here, some will discriminate, thinking that this noble discrimination is for the purpose of meditating on the selflessness of persons and the selflessness of phenomena in all places.

If it is said that there is no reason to understand the teacher, therefore it is said: "Bhagavan, I am bold to extensively teach the Prajnaparamita," and so on. Boldness is the meaning between manifestation and desire. "Extensively" means that the way of showing it is an excellent form. The Bhagavan also saw the great benefit of sentient beings, so he allowed Manjushri to boldly proclaim it. In order to roughly argue for the absence of self in a person, the Bhagavan said: "Bhagavan, what dharma resides where is invisible," and so on. "What" is understood as self, life, and so on. "Residing" means dwelling, which is a synonym for permanence. "Not residing" is the characteristic of complete change, becoming another state. If asked, "Why is that?" it means: "Is it invisible because there is no power to see? Or is it because there are no things that reside and do not reside?" If according to the first statement, then the absence of self in a person cannot be established, because such invisibility cannot prove that things do not exist. Because there is a lack of power to see many things, it is invisible, such as ordinary people to the Buddha and Dharma, and so on. It cannot be said that it does not exist just because of that. If according to the second statement, then it is just empty words, because it lacks reason. Therefore, if asked, "Must reason be stated?" then it should be combined like this: "Because all dharmas are non-abiding, residing and not residing are invisible." Non-abiding itself is momentary, which shows the pervasive nature of dharma. Dharma refers to holding its own characteristics. One's own characteristics are also the nature of being able to act. Saying "all" is to show that it is pervasive, without omission. The subject-property and the example are not mentioned, and the subject-property and the example are not mentioned because it depends on the differences of the beings to be tamed. Such a combination is clear.
