Regarding the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, even a hundred million demons cannot separate them, hence they are called Sangha (དགེ་འདུན།). The term "means" signifies "togetherness." Having previously provided a general explanation with the word "great," we shall now separately enumerate them. The phrase "twelve hundred and fifty monks" refers to thirteen hundreds halved, which is twelve hundred and fifty monks. The greatness of the qualities mentioned includes "all were Arhats." "Enemy" refers to afflictions; because they have conquered these, they are called Arhats (དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ།). The term "Ara" has the letter "A" at the beginning, similar to the term "Hande," which also has the suffix "Treka," indicating a definitive word. Alternatively, because they have conquered and will not age again, they are called Arhats. Furthermore, among gods and humans, they are worthy of offerings and recipients of charity, hence they are called Arhats. This explains the merit of the object of generosity. "Exhaustion of outflows" means that afflictions that cause outflows and also generate roots of virtue, thus there are four types of outflows: the outflow of desire, the outflow of existence, the outflow of ignorance, and the outflow of views. These also sequentially correspond to the five aggregates of the desire realm, the co-arising of the three realms of existence, the ignorance of complete imputation, and the sixty-two views. Because these leak into these, it is said that the outflows are exhausted. Through the aggregates of the non-learning morality and samadhi, the outflow of desire is exhausted; through the aggregate of non-learning wisdom, the outflow of views is exhausted; through the aggregate of non-learning liberation, the outflow of existence is exhausted; through the aggregate of non-learning knowledge and vision of liberation, the outflow of ignorance is exhausted. This demonstrates the quality of purity. "Without afflictions" means being free from all afflictions. There are four types of all-encompassing afflictions: the all-encompassing afflictions of karma, the all-encompassing afflictions of maturation, the all-encompassing afflictions of afflictions, and the all-encompassing afflictions of birth. That which causes all-encompassing affliction is that which causes suffering, and also that which becomes all-encompassing affliction, and of what all-encompassing affliction, etc.

Whatever there is, is entirely afflicted. Because of the cessation of ignorance, actions cease, therefore it is said that karma is completely without affliction. Because of the cessation of actions, consciousness, name, form, the six sense sources, contact, and feeling cease, therefore there is no affliction whatsoever in maturation. Because of the cessation of feeling, existence and grasping cease, and because existence ceases, there is no affliction whatsoever of affliction. Because of the cessation of existence, birth, aging, and death cease, therefore there is no affliction whatsoever of birth. Complete affliction is suffering, therefore the very absence of affliction demonstrates the quality of the absence of suffering. "Being in control" means that worldly people are controlled by those things; either one's self controls worldly people or makes them pleasing, or one places their minds in control or gains control, therefore it is being in control. Because the controls are of four types: control over miraculous powers, control over the senses, control over samadhi, and control over wisdom. Among these, by having control over miraculous powers, all of the sentient world and the container world are controlled by them. By having control over the senses, behavior becomes nearly peaceful, causing worldly people to have pleasing thoughts about them. By having control over samadhi, the mind is placed in control by it. By having control over wisdom, all afflictions, karma, and maturation are completely cut off, therefore, like being completely liberated from bonds, one is completely born, therefore one gains control. "Mind utterly liberated" means that it shows that all the completely afflicted dharmas on the side of craving do not exist. "Wisdom utterly liberated" means that it shows that there is nothing on the side of ignorance. Thus, because of being separated from desire, the mind is liberated, therefore it is said to be mind utterly liberated. Because of being separated from ignorance, wisdom is liberated, therefore it is called wisdom utterly liberated. Among these, abandoning the afflictions and near afflictions on the side of existence, the samadhi and absorption to be attained thereby, obtaining these is called mind liberation.
