Will that which is perfectly pure and without defilement revert? Or, will some other dharma revert? If these six dharmas do not exist, then what is the dharma that truly exists and will revert? Therefore, it is shown that in reality, nothing will revert. Next, the venerable Subhuti, with "as shown by the aspect of the Dharma," etc., the venerable Shariputra said this: If a Bodhisattva does not revert, then all Bodhisattvas will become Buddhas, and will not revert to become Shravakas or Pratyekabuddhas. If that were the case, there would be three kinds of Bodhisattvas, meaning that Bodhisattvas do not become three kinds, he thought so. The language of the venerable beings also asked Subhuti, and then the venerable Subhuti could not bear the word "three kinds of Bodhisattvas," the venerable Shariputra said, "Do you think there are three Bodhisattvas in Suchness?" etc. It has also been said before that all ordinary people and all noble beings, as well as Pratyekabuddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Buddhas, will become one by the power of Suchness, and there is no difference between them. If everything is reduced to one, but it is thought that there are three kinds of Bodhisattvas, then in Suchness, everything is without difference, how can it be reasonable to divide them into one, two, or three? This is what is to be shown. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti, "It should be known that this Bodhisattva will definitely attain unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment." From this occasion, for the sake of the retinue who want to know how to realize the signs of what will definitely arise, they asked the Blessed One, "How should a Bodhisattva who wants to attain unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment abide?" After that, the way to abide is shown through perfect intention and perfect application, starting from "One should generate equanimity towards all sentient beings," until...

From the thought of focusing with the mind of the boundary between thread and ink, it is the perfection of intention. From "I should also abandon killing" to "rejoicing in accordance with the abiding of the holy Dharma," it is the perfection of application. After that, there are two kinds of fruits of application: without obscuration and without clinging. Generating equanimity towards all sentient beings is due to the power of the suchness of all dharmas. Saying "form is without obscuration" means not clinging to form as an obscuration. Saying "from the past extreme, form is not grasped" means that from the past, one does not grasp form and so on as obscurations. Regarding what is said, "Thus, it is not grasped at all," if one asks, "How does it become not grasping form?" this is said for the sake of those who have doubts. "Subhuti, whatever form cannot be completely grasped, that is not form," this means that the Bodhisattva increases the non-clinging nature towards all dharmas, but does not increase clinging. The Bodhisattva's non-clinging is also not the nature of form and so on. Therefore, if one increases non-clinging, the Bodhisattva will not grasp form and so on. After that, the venerable Subhuti said, "Before, there was no real turning back, and there were no three kinds of Bodhisattvas," therefore, this is the occasion to ask about the signs of non-retrogression. Then the Blessed One showed thirty-five signs of non-retrogression, namely, seeing suchness as non-dual, turning back from everything, not serving other teachers, etc., having no evil dharmas, not being born in unfavorable places, abandoning unwholesome paths of action, perfecting wholesome paths of action, perfecting all perfections for the sake of all sentient beings, mastering all the teachings of the twelve branches of scripture for the sake of all sentient beings, profound Dharma.

Without the fault of roughness, with gentle and loving actions of body, speech, and mind, not accepting the five obscurations, without the seven predispositions, with conduct endowed with mindfulness and awareness, endowed with pure conduct and so forth, not generating thousands of kinds of worms in the body, body, speech, and mind completely pure, with few desires and contentment, relying on the qualities of practice, without miserliness and so forth, endowed with steadfast and profound wisdom and so forth, not being robbed by demons and so forth, not being partial, relying on the Perfection of Wisdom, realizing the actions of demons, obtaining tolerance of the unborn dharma, turning back and not turning back, not touching the fruits of contemplation and samadhi and absorption, not fully accepting all phenomena such as form, the four applications to the perfections being fully complete, not expecting that the fruit of giving will cause others to be displeased and so forth, following the five vajra families like a shadow, and so forth, not relying on evil mantras and evil deeds, turning away from the combination of evil speech and engaging in correct actions and thoughts, not being content with one's own ground, even giving up one's life for the sake of fully upholding the Dharma, in order not to cause suffering to those who uphold the Dharma. Therefore, concerning what is Suchness, there is no doubt that it is neither single nor dual, this shows that by virtue of the Suchness of all beings, the Tathagata is the only one. What is self-nature or the self-nature of both, that is not the self-nature of Suchness, this is the term. All dharmas are without appearance, without characteristics, without signs, because Suchness is without appearance. Bhagavan, if all dharmas are without appearance, and so forth, this shows: if without appearance and without characteristics, how are the appearance and characteristics of non-retrogression explained? Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who turns away from form, and so forth, because of being without appearance.
