Knowing the individual characteristics of those is to know extensively, as it is taught. Asking, "Venerable Lord, what is the suchness of form?" is because it was said earlier that if one knows the suchness of all phenomena, including form, one will know the essence and elaboration of all phenomena. To distinguish and explain in detail what the suchness of those phenomena is, it is asked by Rabjor. The Blessed One said, "Suchness, in which birth is not seen, cessation is not seen, and change from abiding is not seen, this is the suchness of form. In this, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas should train," and so on, which shows what the suchness of all phenomena, including form, is. Phenomena such as form are, in ultimate truth, empty of inherent existence and completely pure, so there is no birth, cessation, or change from abiding. The suchness of form and so on is just that, and that is what Bodhisattva Mahasattvas should train in, as it is taught. If one knows the ultimate limit of reality, one will know the essence and elaboration of all phenomena, which is to say that the unconditioned nature, called the ultimate limit of reality, if known in the manner of conventional and ultimate truth, one will know the essence and elaboration of all phenomena, as it is taught. Asking, "Venerable Lord, what is the ultimate limit of reality?" is because some Shravakas and others view the ultimate limit of reality as something substantial and wish to realize it directly. What is that like? Or is it something else? Thus it is asked. The Blessed One said, "That which is without limit is the ultimate limit of reality," which is to say that it is not like the substantial ultimate limit of reality seen by Shravakas and others, but rather that all phenomena are inherently pure, without the two extremes of birth and cessation, this is the ultimate limit of reality. If one knows such an ultimate meaning, one will know the essence and elaboration of all phenomena, as it is taught. If one knows the Dharmadhatu, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas will know the essence and elaboration of all phenomena, which is to say that if one knows the Dharmadhatu in the manner of ultimate and conventional truth, then all phenomena are within the Dharmadhatu.

Therefore, understanding in the manner of ultimate truth is to understand in brief. It has been explained that it will be understood in the manner of conventional truth. The question, "Venerable Lord, what is the realm of phenomena?" is that according to the treatises of the Lesser Vehicle, the seven substances are also called the realm of phenomena. The cause or place where phenomena arise and occur is also called a realm. Holding one's own characteristics is also called a realm. Here, the question is, what is meant by the realm of phenomena? The Venerable Lord said: The absence of a realm is the realm of phenomena. This means that the realm of phenomena that appears in the treatises of the Lesser Vehicle is the realm of phenomena that does not exist in the three types of things mentioned above. In the realm of phenomena, cessation and complete cessation are not observed. This means that the realm of phenomena is unchanging, and because it is completely established, there is no cessation or change. A Bodhisattva Mahasattva who understands the realm of phenomena in this way will understand the outline and extensive explanation of all phenomena. This is an explanation that summarizes the meaning of what was said above. As mentioned above, if one understands that all phenomena are of one taste in the realm of phenomena in the manner of ultimate truth, then one understands the outline of all phenomena. In conventional truth, one should not be attached to that phenomenon, and understanding the individual characteristics of all phenomena is an extensive explanation. The question is, Venerable Lord, how can one seek the outline and extensive explanation of all phenomena? This question is posed in order to benefit those beings who are not satisfied with the brief explanation of the outline and extensive explanation of all phenomena given above. The Venerable Lord said: In any case, one should understand that all phenomena are neither connected nor unconnected. This means that if all phenomena were something, then they would be connected to each other. However, all phenomena are empty of nature and have no thingness, so they cannot be connected to anything. Therefore, one should understand that all phenomena are neither connected nor unconnected. The question is, Venerable Lord, what are those phenomena that are neither connected nor unconnected? This refers to all phenomena mentioned above in general.
