Therefore, it is shown that it becomes the light illuminating the world. Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva attains unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, how does he become the light of the world? From "if" to "eliminating the darkness of ignorance and the dimness of unknowing," it shows becoming the light of the world. Beings from beginningless time have been wandering in the darkness of samsara, obscured by ignorance, and not inclined towards correct views. Bodhisattvas, with skillful means, lead them into correct views, and this is becoming the light of the world, thus it is shown. It is shown how a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having attained unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, becomes the lamp for beings and emits light. From "if" to "beings are also thereby correctly encouraged, combined, sculpted, and thoroughly uplifted," it shows becoming the lamp for beings and emitting light. For those beings who have not heard and do not understand the sacred Dharma, explaining the meaning of the Mahayana Sutra, the six perfections, endowed with the blessings of the four noble truths, guiding beings with the four means of attraction, showing the meaning to beings without error, and causing beings to practice the six perfections, the four noble truths, and the four means of attraction, this is becoming the lamp for beings and emitting light, thus it is shown. Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva attains unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, how does he become the guide for beings? From "if" to "indicating a path relying on one for the sake of realizing nirvana," it shows the Bodhisattva becoming the guide for beings. For example, many merchants enter bad roads and wrong roads, the guide protects them, leading them into safe roads and non-erroneous roads, so that they can reach their destination without danger on the road, just like that.

Thus. Bodhisattvas also show the excellent Dharma of the Mahayana to sentient beings who have entered the wrong path of heretics and those who are attached to the four perversions. Having placed them on the noble path and placed them in the excellent state of Nirvana, they are like guides, and therefore they become guides for sentient beings. This is what is taught. "Sentient beings who have entered the wrong path" refers to those who are inclined towards the evil views of heretics. "Attachment to the four improper ways" refers to attachment to the four perversions: regarding impermanence as permanence, regarding selflessness as having a self, regarding suffering as happiness, and regarding impurity as purity. This is called attachment to the four improper ways. "For the sake of purifying sentient beings" means that sentient beings who have entered the wrong path and are attached to the four improper ways are shown the path so that they are not defiled by the faults of the wrong path and impropriety. "Truly turning away from sorrow and harm, and extinguishing suffering and discomfort" means that the path is shown in order to liberate them from the suffering of samsara. "To make them understand the Dharma that possesses reason" means to show the meaning of selflessness in persons and phenomena, and to show the practice of uniting skillful means and wisdom. The path is shown in order to make them understand the sutras of the Mahayana. "To show the path that relies on one in order to manifest Nirvana" means to teach the Dharma that is solely devoted to the Mahayana in order to attain non-abiding Nirvana. "Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva become a guide for sentient beings after fully awakening to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment?" From there to "Because unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment is without birth, without cessation, without all defilements, and without purity, the Dharma is taught," it is shown that the Bodhisattva becomes a guide for sentient beings, meaning all phenomena such as the forms of sentient beings.

Those who view things as existent and cling to characteristics such as birth, cessation, complete defilement, and complete purification, for the sake of leading them into the ultimate realm, (the Buddha) teaches the profound Dharma that all phenomena, including form, are ultimately empty of inherent existence, and therefore there is no birth, cessation, complete defilement, or complete purification. Thus, he guides sentient beings, and that is what is being expressed. Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva become enlightened to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment and become a path for sentient beings? From "If so" to "All-knowingness is of the nature of space, thereby teaching the Dharma to sentient beings," it expresses that the Bodhisattva becomes a path for sentient beings, that is, for sentient beings who are attached to things, he teaches that ultimately all phenomena are empty of inherent existence, like space, without things, and therefore not stained by anything. If he teaches in this way, sentient beings will not be lost on the path to unsurpassed enlightenment. Therefore, (the Bodhisattva) becomes the path for sentient beings, and that is what is being expressed. From "The emptiness of form is without going; it does not go or come, thereby teaching the Dharma to sentient beings" to "The emptiness of all-knowingness is without going; it does not go or come, thereby teaching the Dharma to sentient beings," it also expresses becoming the path for sentient beings, that is, the Bodhisattva becomes the path for sentient beings. In order to eliminate the conceptual thought that if there is a path, then there is also going and coming, therefore he teaches that ultimately all phenomena are empty of inherent existence, and for emptiness, there is neither a path nor any going or coming.
