Thus it is taught. Subhuti, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, wishing to manifestly and completely awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, become a refuge for sentient beings? Subhuti, in this regard, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, wishing to manifestly and completely awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, teaches the Dharma without any admixture of phenomena, which is a concise explanation of being a refuge for sentient beings. In the ultimate sense, all phenomena are without substance and empty of inherent existence, so their characteristics are unmixed and they are taught without any connection to anything, relying on the manner of not relying on the realm of ultimate reality, therefore they become a refuge for sentient beings, as it is taught. Question: Bhagavan, how are all phenomena without admixture? This is asked to initiate a detailed explanation of the meaning of what was previously said, that the Dharma is taught without any admixture of phenomena. The Bhagavan replied: Subhuti, whatever is the non-admixture of form is the non-relation of form to anything. These and so on are a detailed explanation of the meaning of the non-admixture of all phenomena. In the ultimate sense, all phenomena are empty of essence and devoid of inherent existence, because their individual characteristics are not mixed with anything, therefore they have no connection with anything. Whatever is the non-relation of form is the non-arising of form. This is to show that form is empty of inherent existence, and whatever is unrelated to anything is the nature of non-arising. Whatever is the non-arising of form is the non-cessation of form. This means that if there is no arising, there is also no cessation. Whatever is the non-cessation of form is the non-admixture of form. This means that since there is no arising and no cessation, there is no substance, so it does not become mixed with anything, but is empty of inherent existence, as it is taught. Just as it is explained for form, so it should be applied to feeling and so on, up to the attainment of all-knowingness. Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva

For example, if someone asks, do sentient beings who generate great courage and desire to attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment become helpers of (other) sentient beings? And so on, this is explaining that they become helpers of the world. Sentient beings do not understand the Dharma nature of all phenomena and have no protectors. How the Bodhisattva himself realizes the Dharma nature of all phenomena, he teaches the Dharma to sentient beings in the same way without error. In this way, sentient beings will not be controlled by demons and obstacles, but will be helped and supported. Therefore, it is said that (the Bodhisattva) becomes a helper of (other) sentient beings. This is explaining that the so-called "the other shore of form is not form" refers to the Dharma that proclaims the boundary of all forms, that is, the nature of non-substantiality is not form. In this way, sentient beings can realize the Dharma nature of the Dharma, that is, the Dharmadhatu of ultimate truth, and will not be controlled by demons and obstacles. Therefore, it is said that (the Bodhisattva) becomes a helper of (other) sentient beings. The explanation of form in this way can also be applied to feelings, etc., up to the point of all-knowingness. Subhuti, the so-called "how form is, so are all phenomena" is explaining that in the ultimate truth, form and all phenomena are of the same taste in emptiness, and their natures are not different. Question: World Honored One, you said, "How form is, so are all phenomena." Then, World Honored One, if that is the case, has the Bodhisattva Mahasattva realized all phenomena? This is saying that if how form is, so are all phenomena, then realizing form also means realizing all phenomena. If so, realizing form also means attaining the ability to know everything. This is the question raised by Subhuti grasping (this logic).

Ra means "the other shore of form," which refers to the nature of emptiness, the limit of form. It is not the object of conceptualization. If one knows this without conceptualization, one will manifest complete enlightenment of all phenomena, which is what is being taught. Just as it is explained for form, it should be similarly applied to feelings and so on, up to all-knowingness. From "This is form," "This is feeling," and so on, up to "This is all-knowingness," there is no conceptualization whatsoever, which indicates that there is no conceptualization on the other shore of form. The so-called limit and other shore of form and so on refers to emptiness, indicating the target where there is no conceptualization whatsoever. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, it is just so, it is just so. From "On the other shore of form, there is no conceptualization whatsoever" to "On the other shore of all-knowingness, there is no conceptualization," the words previously asked by Subhuti are repeated, and it is taught that it is true that there is no conceptualization whatsoever in the emptiness referred to by the other shore of form and so on. From "This is form," "This is feeling," and so on, up to "There is no conceptualization whatsoever in this all-knowingness," it explains that the previously stated absence of conceptualization on the other shore of form and so on indicates the means of how to understand conceptualization, that is, the method of knowing is absent. It means that with regard to form and so on, there is no conceptualization that sees them as truly existing and clings to their characteristics. Subhuti, even if Bodhisattva Mahasattvas understand these peaceful dharmas, they will not be discouraged, and they will think: How should I manifest complete enlightenment of these dharmas? How should I manifest complete enlightenment of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, and then proclaim such peaceful, such wonderful dharmas? Thinking in this way is difficult. It means that Bodhisattvas, from the perspective of ultimate truth, know that all phenomena are empty and peaceful by nature, and are not the object of conceptualization and words.
