Regarding the newly entered Mahayana Bodhisattva's rejoicing in merit, and the question raised to elaborate on how to dedicate merit flawlessly and completely purely, therefore, when the newly entered Mahayana Bodhisattva rejoices and dedicates, if they have not contemplated the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, the Sangha of Hearers, and the root of merit, then they cannot dedicate. If they contemplate them and dedicate, if they focus on reality and grasp at characteristics, then how will they not be transformed into inverted perception, inverted mind, and inverted view? This is the question raised by grasping the key point. The Venerable Subhuti said: Maitreya, if... until there is no transformation into inverted view, it refers to the teaching of the flawless dedication made by the newly entered Mahayana Bodhisattva. Although in the conventional truth, they contemplate and understand the Buddhas, Hearers, the root of merit, and the mind of dedication, in the ultimate truth, they understand that all of them are without reality. Therefore, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who perform good deeds, the Noble Hearers, and the root of their merit, and the mind of the self who dedicates, if they do not view them as real and do not grasp at characteristics, but dedicate with skillful means in the conventional truth, then they will not be transformed into inverted perception, inverted mind, and inverted view, this is what is to be explained. If the Bodhisattva Mahasattva contemplates and clings to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and the Hearers, etc., and the root of merit... until there is a transformation into inverted view, it refers to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who perform good deeds, the Noble Hearers, and the root of their merit, and the mind of the self who dedicates, if they do not understand that they are without reality in the ultimate truth, and dedicate with the thought of clinging to names, then they will be transformed into inverted perception, inverted mind, and inverted view, this is what is to be explained. If the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, with what mind does he think of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and the Hearers, etc., and the mind of the root of merit, for that mind also truly

From "reciting," up to "Thus, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should dedicate all roots of virtue," it refers to the mind that contemplates the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, the noble Shravakas, and the roots of virtue, as well as the mind of dedication, and the unsurpassed Bodhi to which one dedicates, should also be understood as being exhausted and without substance in the ultimate sense. This is to reveal that dedication should be done in the conventional sense. 'The Dharma nature of that mind is also thus' means that the nature of the mind of dedication is also exhausted and non-existent. 'Whatever Dharma is dedicated to, the Dharma nature of that Dharma is also thus' means that the Bodhi dedicated to unsurpassed Bodhi is also the revelation of the nature of non-substantiality. If the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, from the initial arising of the mind of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past, future, and present, up to 'This is the unsurpassed dedication of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva,' it refers to the countless roots of virtue done by the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the three times after first generating the mind of Bodhi, as well as the countless roots of virtue done by the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and the countless roots of virtue generated by various ordinary beings, including gods and humans, towards these noble ones. Gathering all these roots of virtue together, one rejoices with unsurpassed supreme joy, and then dedicates the merit of such rejoicing to unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment. And in the ultimate sense, the noble ones who perform good deeds, as well as ordinary beings, and the roots of virtue, and the mind of rejoicing, and the mind of dedication, and the Dharma of Bodhi to which one dedicates above, all these should be known as exhausted, ceased, and without substance, because their nature is emptiness. In the conventional sense, dedicating with skillful means becomes an unsurpassed dedication. This is to reveal dedicating Dharma with Dharma.

The meaning of "not dedicating" is that all things that should be dedicated and the dharmas that dedicate, because their nature is emptiness, there is no dedication of emptiness to emptiness. If a Bodhisattva Mahasattva manifestly accumulates meritorious objects, from "knowing that the aggregates, realms, and sources are empty" to "Subhuti, in this way, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva dedicates the meritorious objects that should be manifestly accumulated to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment," it means that with regard to the meritorious objects that should be manifestly accumulated, in terms of ultimate truth, knowing that the aggregates, realms, and sources, etc., up to the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, are empty, because they do not possess the nature of these dharmas, dedicating them conventionally is without fault, and is a completely pure dedication, which is what is to be explained. If a Bodhisattva Mahasattva manifestly accumulates meritorious objects endowed with rejoicing, from "knowing that the meritorious objects endowed with rejoicing that should be manifestly accumulated are themselves empty" to "this is the Prajnaparamita of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva," it means that in terms of ultimate truth, the meritorious objects endowed with rejoicing that should be manifestly accumulated are themselves also empty, knowing that their nature is emptiness, and knowing that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, the roots of virtue to be dedicated, the minds that dedicate, and the very enlightenment to which they are dedicated are also empty in their nature. From the Prajnaparamita to all the dharmas up to the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, also knowing that their nature is empty, and having done this, dedicating them conventionally is a dedication that does not contradict the Prajnaparamita, which is what is to be explained. Furthermore, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and those who have passed into complete nirvana together with the Sangha of Shravakas.
