Etc., it shows that there is no distinction to be established. Subhuti, for example, space is not empty, nor is it non-empty, etc., it shows that there is no establishment of empty and non-empty, etc. Subhuti, for example, space is not peaceful, nor is it non-peaceful, etc., it shows that there is no establishment of peaceful and non-peaceful, etc. Subhuti, for example, space is not light, nor is it darkness, etc., it shows that there is no establishment of light and darkness. Subhuti, for example, space is not an object of focus, nor is it not an object of focus, etc., it shows that there is no establishment of an object of focus and not an object of focus. Subhuti, for example, space is neither expressible nor inexpressible, etc., it shows that there is no establishment of expressible and inexpressible. Subhuti, by those names, the vehicle is also equal to space, like this, the so-called Mahayana, for all the objects of complete imputation, there are twenty-four kinds of distinctions to be established, like that, with the analogy of space having no distinctions to be established, explaining that the meaning of the Mahayana being equal to space, is summarized and shown. Subhuti, in any case, you said this: just as space opens up space for countless sentient beings, so also that vehicle opens up space for immeasurable and countless sentient beings. Regarding what was said, it is like that, etc., is that previously Subhuti took space as an example, because the opening of space is vast, therefore it is said to be Mahayana, the Blessed One briefly said that meaning, praised it saying that it is true, and then with twenty-two explanations, explained in detail the meaning of that Mahayana opening up space for immeasurable and countless sentient beings, why is that? Subhuti, because there are no sentient beings, therefore it should be known that there is no space, etc., in order to open up space widely, showing the reason for the so-called Mahayana, just as worldly people perversely think that sentient beings, space, and Mahayana, etc., are real.

If there were entities, one would be limited by another, and in that way, there would be no opening of great opportunities. Since all of them are without substance and invisible, one does not obstruct the other. Because of opening up great opportunities, it is taught that it is the Great Vehicle. Why is that? Subhuti, it is like this: whatever beings are, whatever space is, and whatever the Great Vehicle is, all of these are invisible. This shows the reason for the non-existence of beings, space, and the Great Vehicle. All three of these are ultimately invisible, therefore they are not existent entities, this is what is being taught. Why is that? Subhuti, because beings are immeasurable, therefore space should be known to be immeasurable. Because space is immeasurable, therefore the Great Vehicle should be known to be immeasurable. Subhuti, through this manner, the Great Vehicle opens the opportunity for immeasurable and countless beings. This shows the reason for the invisibility of beings, space, and the Great Vehicle. If there were an entity, it could be measured, saying, 'It is this much.' Because they are without substance, they are immeasurable, this is what is being taught. Why is that? Subhuti, it is like this: whatever beings are, whatever space is, and whatever the Great Vehicle is, all of these are invisible. This shows the reason for the immeasurability of beings, space, and the Great Vehicle. Their meaning is that because they are so invisible, they cannot be measured. Why is that? Subhuti, because beings are incalculable, therefore space should be known to be incalculable. Because space is incalculable, therefore the Great Vehicle should be known to be incalculable. Subhuti, through this manner, the Great Vehicle opens the opportunity for immeasurable and countless beings. This shows the reason for the invisibility of beings, space, and the Great Vehicle, shown through incalculability. If something were visible, it could be measured, saying, 'It is this much.' Because there is no visibility in things, it is incalculable, this is what is being taught. Why is that? Subhuti, it is like this: whatever beings are
