Twelfth, the Chapter on Overpowering. Twelfth, the Chapter on Overpowering. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One, "O Blessed One, the so-called Mahayana, Mahayana, is because it will arise by overpowering the world including gods, humans, and asuras, so it is called Mahayana, etc. From where does that Mahayana arise?" etc., discussing the meaning previously explained, and elaborating on the definitive word of Mahayana and what the Dharma of Mahayana is. Among them, because it arises by overpowering the world including gods, humans, and asuras, it is called Mahayana, etc., which is an explanation of the definitive word called Mahayana. The Indian word "ယာན" (Sanskrit Devanagari: यान, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: yāna, literal Chinese meaning: vehicle) can also refer to a vehicle, an arising, or a going. In this context, because it arises by overpowering all the worlds including gods, humans, and asuras, it is called Mahayana because of its great arising, which is what is to be explained. O Blessed One, the so-called Mahayana is equal to the sky, etc., which uses the example of the sky to show that the Mahayana is vast. It explains that it is vast because of its great openness, and because there is no going, coming, dwelling, and no three times. Among them, just as the sky opens up space for countless and immeasurable sentient beings, so too does this Mahayana open up space for countless and immeasurable sentient beings. O Blessed One, in this way, the Mahayana of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, which is an explanation of the vast openness. Just as in the sky, all sentient beings abide in all the ways they desire, without feeling cramped, so too is this Mahayana, all sentient beings enter simultaneously in a single instant, and even attaining omniscience does not feel cramped, therefore it is called Mahayana, which is what is to be explained. The so-called Mahayana has no going or coming, no dwelling, and no prior limit, later limit, or middle.

, there is no going, coming, or abiding, and the sutra that has no three times is explained. World Honored One, for example, in the sky, there is no such thing as going or coming, nor is there abiding, just like that, in this Mahayana, there is also no going, no arising, no abiding, this is because just as there is no going, coming, or abiding in the sky, there is also no going and coming in the Mahayana, so it is explained in this way. World Honored One, for example, the sky is for the sake of the equality of the three times, from there, World Honored One, for example, this Mahayana is the vehicle of the equality of the three times, or for that reason, it is called Mahayana, Mahayana, until there, because there is no attachment to the three times, so the meaning of Mahayana is explained. The World Honored One said: Subhuti, it is just like that, it is just like that. Just like this, these six perfections are the Mahayana of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, etc., Subhuti's saying that Mahayana is equal to the sky is true, this is praise, and in order to eliminate the doubts of some of the audience about what Mahayana is, it is explained that these six perfections etc. are Mahayana. Among them, the Paramitas, the Samadhis, the Emptinesses, and the Bodhipakshika dharmas, etc., until the nature of those dharmas between the uncommon Buddha dharmas, are as previously stated. Subhuti, you once said that this vehicle will overwhelm the world including gods, humans, and asuras and appear, etc., this is because previously Subhuti had said that the Mahayana will overwhelm the world including gods, humans, and asuras and appear, and also said that this vehicle is equal to the sky, and used the example of the sky to open up space for countless sentient beings, and used the example of the sky to explain that the Mahayana has no going, coming, or abiding, and has no three times.

Having spoken the words that were spoken. Explaining in detail the meaning of each of those words. What is the world including gods, humans, and asuras? For example, the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm, this is to eliminate the doubt about what is the realm of the world including gods, humans, and asuras. The desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm themselves are the world including gods, humans, and asuras, this is what is to be shown. Subhuti, if the desire realm is thus without error, thus, not other thus, etc., if the desire realm is the nature of complete perfection, the nature of truth, the nature of the unconditioned, if it truly exists, then the Great Vehicle would not be able to overwhelm the world including gods, humans, and asuras and arise. Because the desire realm is discriminated, produced by causes and conditions, impermanent and unstable, is of the nature of change. Because it is to be abandoned, therefore the Great Vehicle will overwhelm the world including gods, humans, and asuras and arise, this is what is to be shown. Just as it is explained for the desire realm, so also the form realm, the formless realm, the five aggregates, the twelve sources, the six consciousnesses, the six confluences of contact, the six feelings born from the six confluences of contact, the six elements such as earth, and the twelve limbs of dependent origination should also be applied. Subhuti, if the perfection of generosity were something that exists, and not something that does not exist, then this Great Vehicle would also not overwhelm gods, humans, and asuras
