I will also practice. 'This is not the path' refers to the aspect of the Bodhisattva's path that contradicts what was mentioned earlier, namely the afflictive obscurations and the cognitive obscurations, etc. 'This is the training of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva' refers to the three trainings of a Bodhisattva, namely the training in discipline, the training in virtuous dharmas, and the training in benefiting sentient beings. 'This is not the training' refers to the opposite of the above. 'This is the Bodhisattva Mahasattva's Perfection of Generosity' refers to giving with the three spheres completely pure. 'This is not the Perfection of Generosity' refers to giving without the three spheres being completely pure, which is merely giving and cannot be considered a perfection. Similarly, the remaining five perfections, such as discipline, should also be applied analogously. 'This is the Bodhisattva Mahasattva's skillful means' refers to the fact that although one realizes that all phenomena are empty in the ultimate truth, in the conventional truth, sentient beings are matured through the four means of gathering, etc. 'This is not skillful means' refers to being like a Hearer who abides in one aspect of peace, or like an ordinary being who is attached to things and abides in samsara. 'This is the Bodhisattva Mahasattva's faultlessness' refers to the characteristics of faultlessness which will be explained below. 'This becomes a fault' refers to the characteristics of faults which have been explained above. Therefore, clinging to the characteristics of phenomena and manifesting attachment, and considering it as a concept, shows that it becomes a fault because it is an obstacle for a Bodhisattva. 'In emptiness of the internal, one does not truly see emptiness of the external,' etc., is the answer to the question of the venerable Shariputra to the venerable Subhuti, asking what is the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva. It elaborately explains what is the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva, namely, 'In emptiness of the internal, one does not truly see emptiness of the external,' which means that emptiness of the internal is empty by its own nature of emptiness of the internal, therefore emptiness of the external.

Emptiness, etc., does not need to be emptied by other emptiness, therefore, for the sake of emptiness. Inner emptiness does not need to seek outer emptiness, therefore, it is not truly seen. Similarly, the eighteen emptinesses should also be applied. Therefore, inner and outer emptiness, etc., should not be regarded as different things, but should be realized that they have the same taste in the emptiness of self-nature, which is the faultlessness of the Bodhisattva. Shariputra, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he should learn in this way: When learning, be sure to understand form, but do not give rise to pride because of it, and even understand the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, but do not give rise to pride because of them. Similarly, for the worldly dharmas such as aggregates, elements, and sense bases, and the transcendental dharmas such as the Perfection of Giving, one should understand their respective characteristics in conventional truth, but in ultimate truth, do not grasp their characteristics as signs in the mind, nor think, "This characteristic is this," so it is taught. Therefore, not grasping at signs and not thinking is the faultlessness of the Bodhisattva. Do not give rise to pride in the mind of enlightenment, etc., that is, not grasping at signs in all dharmas and having no pride is the faultlessness of the Bodhisattva. These two explanations are the cause of attaining unsurpassed enlightenment, so it is called the mind of enlightenment. Do not think, "This is the mind of enlightenment," or think, "This is an unequal or equal mind," or think, "This is a great mind," do not give rise to such thoughts, nor give rise to pride, so it is taught. If you act in this way, you will become a faultless Bodhisattva. Why? Because this mind is not mind, because the nature of mind is luminosity. Therefore, do not give rise to pride in the mind of enlightenment.
