Remembering the merit of being born in the heavens. One should cultivate the remembrance of generosity, that is, remembering that the result of giving Dharma, wealth, and fearlessness is the cause of great enjoyment in the world and beyond. One should cultivate the remembrance of the gods, that is, remembering that the gods of the world and beyond are born from the cause of goodness and great merit, and should not be despised or slandered, but are worthy of offering and respect. One should cultivate the remembrance of breathing in and out, that is, cultivating the remembrance of breathing in and out in order to tame and make the mind suitable for cultivating meditation and samadhi. One should cultivate the remembrance of disgust, that is, focusing on the places that cause aversion, such as birth, old age, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, distress, and disturbance, and contemplating the faults and remembering disgust. The Bodhisattva's remembrance of disgust is that all dharmas are of the nature of selflessness, but children generate a mind with substantial meaning and enter into it, and seeing this, quickly proceeding to know their intention is called the remembrance of disgust. One should cultivate the remembrance of death, which is also included in the remembrance of disgust, but it is mentioned separately because it is a cause of even greater disgust. One should cultivate the remembrance of the body, that is, in order not to be attached to the body, one should contemplate it as being filled with various impurities from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet. One should cultivate the perception of impermanence, etc., the three aspects, that is, one should cultivate the perception of impermanence, suffering, and selflessness in the five aggregates of suffering. One should cultivate the perception of impurity, which is a brief display of cultivating the ten perceptions of decay mentioned above.

One should cultivate the thought of death, and wherever the thought of death is mentioned, it seems like repeating it twice. What was mentioned earlier was the time of recollection. This is the time of thought, so there is no fault. Because there is nothing to be delighted in, one should cultivate the thought of not delighting in all the world, which means not delighting in worldly reasoning, all skillful crafts, and sixty-four kinds of various arts, and so on. One should cultivate the thought of unreliability, which means that because one has not truly seen the cause of attachment in the three realms, one has no desire for it. One should cultivate the knowledge of suffering, which means that from the conventional point of view, one knows that all dharmas, such as the aggregates, are suffering, and then, below that, one also knows that they are extremely unreal in the ultimate sense, but in order to fully ripen sentient beings, one knows the aspect of suffering in the conventional sense, and also makes others know it in the same way, this is knowing suffering, and similarly, it should be applied to everything. One should cultivate the knowledge of arising, which means knowing that the aggregates, elements, and sense bases themselves arise, and knowing that the knowledge of it is also knowing arising. One should cultivate the knowledge of cessation, which means that although cessation is not attainable in the ultimate sense, in order to fully ripen sentient beings in the conventional sense, one knows the aspects of cessation, peace, excellence, and liberation, and the knowledge of it. One should cultivate the knowledge of the path, which is the same as the previous conventional and ultimate principles, knowing the aspects of the path, reason, practice, and liberation, and the knowledge of it. One should cultivate the knowledge of exhaustion, which means knowing that all afflictions and near afflictions, as well as suffering, and the existence of oneself and others are completely exhausted, and knowing the cause of complete exhaustion, this is the bodhisattvas' knowledge of exhaustion. One should cultivate the knowledge of non-arising, which means knowing all the births of oneself and other sentient beings
