etc., distinguishing them separately and indicating what these are. Thereupon, the Blessed One said: "Subhuti, that which is called all dharmas," from "Subhuti, those are called all dharmas," is to indicate the name of all dharmas in a concise summary. The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, that which is called worldly virtuous dharmas," from "Those are worldly virtuous dharmas," is to indicate that there are two types of virtues, worldly and transcendental, and among them, the worldly virtuous dharmas are distinguished and indicated separately. Asked: "Blessed One, what are the worldly non-virtuous dharmas?" From "Subhuti, those are worldly non-virtuous dharmas," is to indicate the non-virtuous dharmas separately. Asked: "Blessed One, what are the unspecified dharmas?" From "Subhuti, those are unspecified dharmas," is to indicate the unspecified dharmas separately. Among them, the action of the body is unspecified. The action of speech is unspecified. The action of mind is unspecified. The actions of body, speech, and mind also have virtuous and non-virtuous aspects, so not all can be called unspecified. Actions done by body, speech, and mind that do not manifest as virtuous or non-virtuous are called unspecified. The four great elements and others are called unspecified because they are resultant fruits. Therefore, all resultant fruits are called unspecified. Asked: "Blessed One, what are the worldly dharmas?" From "Apart from the transcendental dharmas, whatever worldly dharmas are not transcendental, those are called worldly dharmas," is to indicate the worldly dharmas. The four dhyanas, the four immeasurables, the four formless absorptions, the five superknowledges, although there are also transcendental aspects, here it refers to those belonging to the continuum of ordinary worldly beings who are not noble ones.

Should be done. Therefore, it is said, "These are called the laws that transcend the world." Question: World-Honored One, what are the laws that transcend the world? From "What are the laws that transcend the world?" to "These are the laws that transcend the world," the laws that transcend the world are explained separately. When these laws are practiced by the noble ones, they are called transcendent because they do not become the cause of samsara. Question: World-Honored One, what are the laws with outflows? From "What are the laws with outflows?" to "These are the laws with outflows," the laws with outflows are explained separately. The four meditations, the four immeasurables, the four formless absorptions, and the five superknowledges, when practiced by worldly beings, are called laws with outflows because they do not abandon samsara, flow from one existence to another, and become outflows. Question: World-Honored One, what are the laws without outflows? From "What are the laws without outflows?" to "These are the laws without outflows," the laws without outflows are explained separately. These laws mentioned by name, such as the four mindfulnesses, even if practiced while abiding in the stage of faith, will abandon samsara and become the cause of nirvana; even if practiced by the noble ones, they will attain nirvana, will not flow in samsara, and will not become outflows, so they are called without outflows. Question: World-Honored One, what are the conditioned laws? From "What are the conditioned laws?" to "These are the conditioned laws," the conditioned laws are explained separately. These noble laws mentioned by name, such as the four mindfulnesses, when practicing the path, when made familiar by the wisdom of practice, the mind and mental factors gather and assemble, appear, and can be attained, so they are called conditioned laws. Question: World-Honored One, what are the unconditioned laws? From "What are the unconditioned laws?" to "Subhuti, these are the unconditioned laws," the unconditioned laws are explained separately. These laws, such as no birth and no destruction, are inherently so. Thus, whose

Because it is unconditioned, it is called unconditioned. Question: World Honored One, what are the common dharmas? From "Those are the common dharmas with each ordinary person" to "Those are the common dharmas with each ordinary person," the common dharmas are shown separately. These dharmas such as meditation and immeasurable qualities can be practiced by ordinary worldly people, and can also be practiced by noble hearers, solitary Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas, so they are called common dharmas. Question: World Honored One, what are the uncommon dharmas? From "Those are the uncommon dharmas" to "Those are the uncommon dharmas," the uncommon dharmas are shown separately. These dharmas mentioned by name, such as mindfulness, are not practiced by worldly people, but they abide in the stage of faith and practice, and the noble ones practice them, so they are shown as uncommon. The individual characteristics of these dharmas mentioned by name, such as good and non-good, will be explained in detail in the chapter on explaining the Great Vehicle below, from the text itself, so they are not explained here. Among them, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, does not discriminate against all dharmas that are empty of their own nature, so he should not be attached. This means that after showing the dharmas separately in this way, all of them are also empty of their own nature, and one should not think that things are real and become attached. Because all dharmas are non-dual, there is no discrimination, and because there is no discrimination, all dharmas should be understood. This is a complete summary of the meaning of the word Bodhisattva. After showing the meaning of the word Bodhisattva in this way, in order to show that it is the meaning of the word Mahasattva, then, the venerable Subhuti said to the World Honored One: World Honored One, this Bodhisattva-Mahasattva
