It is to completely dedicate oneself in order to attain omniscience. Therefore, it is taught that by attending to and honoring such a virtuous spiritual friend, listening to the Dharma, and hearing this profound meaning of the Perfection of Wisdom, one will not become fearful, apprehensive, or terrified. When explaining the worldly dharmas such as the aggregates and elements, as well as the six perfections and the eighteen emptinesses, the phrase "teaching the Dharma for the sake of cultivation" does not appear. However, from the four mindfulnesses onwards, the phrase "teaching the Dharma for the sake of cultivation" does appear. This is because the worldly dharmas such as the aggregates and elements are to be abandoned after recognizing their aspects such as impermanence, so the phrase "teaching the Dharma for the sake of cultivation" is not mentioned. The six perfections and the eighteen emptinesses are naturally familiar to Bodhisattvas from the beginning, so the phrase "teaching the Dharma" is not mentioned. The thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, such as the four mindfulnesses, the four noble truths, the four dhyanas, the four immeasurables, the four formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine sequential abidings, the three doors of liberation, and the six superknowledges are common dharmas of Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas, and are also dharmas to be cultivated, so the phrase "teaching the Dharma for the sake of cultivation" is mentioned. Although the samadhis and dharani gates are not shared by Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, they are common dharmas of Bodhisattvas and the Blessed Buddhas, and are also to be attained by Bodhisattvas through cultivation, so the phrase "teaching the Dharma for the sake of cultivation" is mentioned. The ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared dharmas of the Buddha are the realm of the Tathagata, and are the dharmas of the result, which are to be attained by Bodhisattvas, so the phrase "teaching the Dharma for the sake of cultivation" is mentioned. Omniscience and enlightenment do not mention impermanence, etc.

It is said that only meditation is mentioned because those two are the nature of suchness, so impermanence and so on are impossible. Subhuti asked: "O Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, when practicing in the Prajnaparamita, become frightened, alarmed, and terrified upon hearing the exposition of the Prajnaparamita, and become unskilled in means, fall into the hands of evil friends, and be completely abandoned by virtuous spiritual friends?" From "Thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should recognize evil friends, and having recognized them, should completely abandon them," it is taught to be skilled in the means of completely abandoning evil friends. To this, the Blessed One said: "Subhuti, here, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices in the Prajnaparamita, without the intention of possessing all-knowing wisdom, he meditates on and focuses on the Prajnaparamita, and becomes arrogant with the Prajnaparamita," and so on, "he meditates on and focuses on the Dana Paramita, and becomes arrogant with the Dana Paramita, such a thing, Subhuti, should be known as a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who is not skilled in the means of practicing in the Prajnaparamita." In between, it is taught that one is not skilled in the means of meditating on the six Paramitas, and the reason for being unskilled in this way is also due to not possessing virtuous spiritual friends and relying on evil friends, therefore one should be skilled in abandoning such transforming evil friends, as it is taught. Subhuti, again, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices in the Prajnaparamita, without the intention of possessing all-knowing wisdom, he focuses on form as being empty of inner nature, and also focuses on the emptiness of inner nature in the manner of focusing, and becomes arrogant with emptiness, and so on, when he practices in the Prajnaparamita, without the intention of possessing all-knowing wisdom, he focuses on old age and death as the nature of non-things.

By attending to emptiness, and by way of objectification, even emptiness, which is the nature of the absence of things, is objectified, and even with emptiness, pride arises. Up to this point, the five aggregates, the twelve sources, the eighteen elements, the six contacts, the six feelings arising from contact, the six elements such as the earth element, and the twelve links of dependent origination are each combined with the eighteen emptinesses. By viewing emptiness and so forth as real by way of objectification, and even with emptiness, pride arises, and by means of unskilled methods, one does not shrink back from the purpose of attaining omniscience. It is taught that such a transformation also arises from not having a virtuous friend and relying on evil companions, so one should be skilled in the means of abandoning such evil companions who cause such a transformation. Furthermore, Subhuti, when that Bodhisattva Mahasattva engages in the Perfection of Wisdom, he cultivates the mindfulness and so forth that are devoid of mental engagement and endowed with omniscience. By way of objectification, he also objectifies those mindfulnesses, and they also give rise to pride. From there, when he engages in the Perfection of Wisdom, he cultivates the unshared qualities of the Buddha and so forth that are devoid of mental engagement and endowed with omniscience. By way of objectification, he also objectifies those unshared qualities of the Buddha, and those unshared qualities of the Buddha also give rise to pride. Up to this point, the four establishments of mindfulness of phenomena, the four perfect abandonments, the four legs of miraculous power, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven branches of enlightenment, the eightfold noble path, the four noble truths, the four dhyanas, the four immeasurables, the four formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, the three doors of liberation, the six superknowledges, the samadhis, the positions of dharanis, the Tathagata's
