Because both are without substance and have the same taste, this is samadhi. The awareness of thinking, "I am equally abiding in samadhi," and the non-arising of conceptualization are taught as such. Then, from the words of the Blessed One saying "Well done" to the venerable Subhuti, up to "one should train in the unshared dharmas of the Buddhas by way of non-apprehension," it is taught that the meaning of non-conceptualization in samadhi, as explained by Subhuti to Shariputra, is excellent. After the Blessed One praised Subhuti, it is taught that one should also train in other pure dharmas in the same way, without conceptualization in the ultimate truth, and by way of non-apprehension in the conventional truth. The statement "Among those without afflictions, it is said to be the best among the Shravakas" refers to praising Subhuti by declaring him the best among the Shravaka Arhats who are without afflictions. Here, the term "afflictions" refers to the conceptualization of Bodhisattvas. Since Subhuti realized and explained the meaning of non-conceptualization, which is in accordance with the explanation of being without afflictions, it is connected with the words "Subhuti, you have explained the meaning of non-conceptualization very well." Having taught how to train in all samadhis in this way, in order to teach training in non-apprehension of all dharmas thereafter, the Blessed One said: "Sharadvatiputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who trains in this way trains by way of non-apprehension of the Perfection of Wisdom," and up to "one should know that the emptiness of the nature of non-things arises as all-knowingness by way of non-apprehension," this is the teaching of training in non-apprehension of all dharmas. Training in this way, such as training by way of non-apprehension of the Perfection of Wisdom, is the teaching of training in non-apprehension. Sharadvatiputra asked: "Blessed One, why is there non-apprehension?" The Blessed One said: "Sharadvatiputra, because of being extremely pure, I do not apprehend," and so on, which is the teaching of the reason for non-apprehension.

Furthermore, "because it is utterly pure" means that, in terms of ultimate truth, all dharmas, the very nature of suchness, are completely pure, therefore there is no object of focus. What are those that have no object of focus? They are the self and sentient beings, etc., which are clung to as self by non-Buddhists, as well as the aggregates, sense bases, realms, and dependent origination, and the three realms, etc., which are worldly dharmas, and the four noble truths, etc., which are supramundane dharmas. Each ordinary person clings to them as truly existent, thus there is no object of focus, as it is taught. Question: "Bhagavan, what is purity?" etc., is asked by Shariputra and explained by the Bhagavan in order to clearly explain the meaning of utter purity. In terms of ultimate truth, all dharmas are not established as truly existent, therefore there is no arising or ceasing, etc., this is purity, as it is taught. Question: "Bhagavan, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who trains in this way train in which dharmas?" etc., is asked because it was explained above that training is done in a way that is without object of focus, and therefore to dispel the doubt that some in the audience might have, wondering if there are some dharmas that need to be trained in. "There is no training in any dharma" means that, in terms of ultimate truth, no dharma is established as truly existent, therefore there is no training in any dharma, as it is taught. "Why is that? Sharadvatiputra, these dharmas are not in the way that ordinary infants manifestly cling to them." This is explaining the reason why there is no training in any dharma. That is, these dharmas of the world and beyond, ordinary infants see and cling to as truly existent, but in reality they do not exist in that way, as it is taught. Question: "Bhagavan, then in what way do these dharmas exist?" is asked in order to clearly explain that meaning. The Bhagavan replied: "How they do not exist, is how they exist." Meaning, ordinary infants see and cling to them as truly existent in a reversed way, but in reality they do not exist in that way.
