It shows the practice that is free from the two extremes of superimposition and defamation on names. Blessed One, I have not discerned the increase and decrease of the four meditations, nor have I truly seen them, from there, Blessed One, the name of the formless absorption also does not exist, there is no end, there is no blessing. What is the reason for that? Because that name does not exist. Thus, that name does not exist, there is no end, there is no blessing. Up to there, it shows the practice that is free from the two extremes of superimposition and defamation on the four meditations, the four immeasurables, and the four formless absorptions. Blessed One, I have not discerned the increase and decrease of the recollection of the Buddha, nor have I truly seen it, from there, Blessed One, the name of the recollection of the deity also does not exist, there is no end, there is no blessing. What is the reason for that? Because that name does not exist. Thus, that name does not exist, there is no end, there is no blessing. Up to there, it shows the objects of the six recollections, and the practice that is free from the two extremes of superimposition and defamation on names. Blessed One, I have not discerned the increase and decrease of the recollection of the form of the body, nor have I truly seen it, from there, Blessed One, the recollection of death

From the soles of the feet to the crown of the head, one should recollect that everything inside and out is filled with various impurities. The so-called recollection of birth is to feel weary of the various sufferings of samsara. The so-called recollection of death is to contemplate the impermanence of the body. The so-called recollection of breathing in and out is for the sake of making the minds of noble Shravakas suitable for meditation and samadhi, and therefore they count and remember their breathing in and out. O Bhagavan, I have not perceived the increase or decrease of the fleshly eye, nor have I truly seen it. From this statement to: O Bhagavan, the name of the Buddha's eye does not exist, it is not tangible, and there is no blessing. Why is that? Because that name does not exist. Therefore, that name does not exist, it is not tangible, and there is no blessing. In between, it reveals the proof of being free from the two extremes of superimposing and slandering the objects and names of the five eyes. O Bhagavan, I have not perceived the increase or decrease of the six superknowledges, nor have I truly seen it. From this statement to: O Bhagavan, the name of the Buddha's unshared dharmas does not exist, it is not tangible, and there is no blessing. Why is that? Because that name does not exist. Therefore, that name does not exist, it is not tangible, and there is no blessing. In between, it reveals the proof of being free from the two extremes of superimposing and slandering the objects and names of the six superknowledges, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared dharmas of the Buddha. O Bhagavan, I have not perceived the increase or decrease of the five aggregates of clinging, which are like a dream, nor have I truly seen it. From this statement to: Why is that? Because that name does not exist. Therefore, that name does not exist, it is not tangible, and there is no blessing. In between, in the Sutras and so on, it is said that all dharmas are like dreams, like illusions, like

Like images, cataracts, reflections, mirages, moon in water, and emanations, these are the objects that illustrate the eight similes, and they demonstrate the practice that is free from the two extremes of adding or subtracting from names and slandering. Among them, what is called like a dream means that the phenomena seen in a dream do not appear in that way when one awakens. Similarly, the phenomena of all conceptualizations, such as the aggregates of grasping, appear when one is deluded by the sleep of ignorance. When ignorance is abandoned and one attains the wisdom of the noble ones, they no longer appear in that way. What is called like a magic trick means that the horses and elephants, etc., created by a magician are not real horses and elephants, but they appear as horses and elephants, etc., which is an illusion. Similarly, all phenomena do not exist as the objects that appear, but they appear in that way. What is called like an echo means that sound arises from a non-sounding basis, and the sound does not belong to it. Similarly, all phenomena appear and sound from what is not truly real. What is called like a cataract means that what is not an object such as a person appears as an object such as a person, which is a mistaken view. Similarly, all phenomena are not the objects that appear, but they are seen as mistaken. What is called like a reflection means that what is not a real form appears as the image of a form, which is not a real form. Similarly, all phenomena do not exist as the objects that appear. What is called like a mirage means that in the hot season of spring, the nature of a mirage is not water, but it mistakenly appears as water. Similarly, all phenomena do not exist in the nature that they appear, but they appear as if objects exist. What is called like the moon in water means that the moon appearing in water is not real, but it appears as if it were a real moon. Similarly, all phenomena do not truly exist as the objects that appear, but they appear as if they truly exist. What is called like an emanation means that by the power of the mind of the emanator, various kinds of objects are emanated, but those emanations are not real.
