That which is called "the training of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva" is that the training of a Bodhisattva is of three types: the training of discipline, the training of virtuous dharmas, and the training of benefiting sentient beings. That which is called "this is not a training" is the opposite of the above. That which is called "the generosity paramita of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva" is to give with the three spheres completely pure. That which is called "this is not the generosity paramita" is that giving which is done without the three spheres being completely pure is merely giving, and is not included in the paramita. Similarly, the remaining five paramitas, such as morality, should also be applied. That which is called "the skillful means of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva" is that although in the ultimate sense all dharmas are realized to be empty, in the conventional sense sentient beings are completely ripened by the four means of gathering and so forth. That which is called "this is not skillful means" is like a Hearer abiding in one direction of peace, or like an ordinary person clinging to objects and abiding in samsara. That which is called "the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva" is that the characteristic of faultlessness will be explained below. That which is called "this becomes a fault" is that the characteristic of fault is the same as what was explained above. Thus, clinging to the characteristics of dharmas and manifestly clinging to them, and making discriminations, is a fault because it is an obscuration of a Bodhisattva. It is shown that it becomes a fault. That which is called "in the emptiness of the internal, the emptiness of the external is not truly seen to follow" and so forth is the answer of the venerable Shariputra to the venerable Subhuti when he asked, "What is the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva?" It elaborately explains what the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva is, that is, that which is called "in the emptiness of the internal, the emptiness of the external is not truly seen to follow," the emptiness of the internal is empty by the nature of the emptiness of the internal, so the emptiness of the external and so forth, the emptiness does not need to be made empty by another emptiness, therefore, in order to make it empty, it is not necessary to seek the emptiness of the external in the emptiness of the internal, so in that, the true following is not seen. Similarly, emptiness

Eighteen should also be added. Like this, emptiness of inner and outer, etc., do not regard things as different, but realize that in the emptiness of self-nature they become one, this is the faultlessness of the Bodhisattva, this is the meaning. Son of Sharadvati, the venerable one, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, he should learn in this way. When learning, one must understand form in any case, and do not give rise to arrogance because of it, from "one must understand the eighteen unshared dharmas of the Buddha, and do not give rise to arrogance because of these eighteen unshared dharmas" in between, also to the aggregates, realms, places, etc., worldly dharmas, and the generosity paramita, etc., transcendental dharmas, in the conventional, after understanding what the respective characteristics are, in the ultimate, do not grasp their characteristics as signs in the mind, nor think in the mind, "the characteristic of this is this," thus showing, like this, not grasping signs, and not thinking in the mind, this is the faultlessness of the Bodhisattva, this is the meaning. Also, do not give rise to arrogance towards that Bodhicitta, etc., towards all dharmas, not grasping signs, without arrogance, this is the faultlessness of the Bodhisattva, these two teachings, are the cause of attaining unsurpassed Bodhi, therefore it is called Bodhicitta, do not think "this is Bodhicitta," or think "this is an unequal and equal mind," or think "this is a great mind," do not generate such thoughts, nor give rise to arrogance, thus showing, if you do this, you will become the faultlessness of the Bodhisattva, this is the meaning. Why is that? Because like this, this mind is not mind, because the nature of mind is luminosity, thus showing the reason for not giving rise to arrogance towards Bodhicitta, this mind, refers to the conventionally established as Bodhicitta in name, in the ultimate, because it is not established as truly existent self-nature, therefore it is said not mind. Because the nature of mind is luminosity.
