These are the afflictions such as attachment in the desire realm. The views to be closely adopted are: the view of the perishable collection, the view of holding to extremes, the wrong view, and the view of pride. The close adoption of moral discipline and asceticism has been explained before. The close adoption of speaking of self is: speaking of one's own body as self, or referring to the pride of "I." Because these afflictions will cause the close adoption of the body of samsara, it is called close adoption. The so-called four inversions are: perceiving permanence in impermanence, perceiving happiness in suffering, perceiving self in non-self, and perceiving purity in impurity. The so-called ten non-virtues are: killing, taking what is not given, and engaging in sexual misconduct, these are the three of the body; lying, slandering, harsh speech, and idle talk, these are the four of speech; covetousness, malice, and wrong view, these are the three of mind, totaling ten. For those belonging to the category of what should be abandoned, the scriptures say, "Other attachments and so on should be abandoned," and in the case of the four foods, four unions, and four rivers, it says, "They should be fully understood." These should be abandoned after being fully understood, so even if it is not said "should be abandoned," it should be known that they should be abandoned. For other attachments and so on, even if it is not said "should be fully understood," it should be known that they should be abandoned after being fully understood. Thus, if the dharmas belonging to the side of afflictions that should be abandoned are completely abandoned, it is shown that this is the benefit of striving in the Perfection of Wisdom. From "The Bodhisattva Mahasattva who wishes to perfect the path of the ten virtuous actions should train in the Perfection of Wisdom" to "The Bodhisattva Mahasattva who wishes to perfect the eighteen unshared dharmas of the Buddha should train in the Perfection of Wisdom," it shows the benefit of perfection, that is, if one strives in the Perfection of Wisdom, one can transcend the world and beyond.

This is to show the complete fulfillment of past virtuous dharmas. Among them, worldly virtuous dharmas are the ten virtues, the four dhyanas, the four immeasurables, and the four formless absorptions. Others, such as supernormal knowledge, are supramundane virtuous dharmas. The complete fulfillment of these is the benefit of diligence, which is its meaning. Abiding in samadhi endowed with the limbs of enlightenment, rising from the first dhyana, entering into cessation, and so forth. In this way, in order to obtain these and other doors of samadhi, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should study the Prajnaparamita. By obtaining these manifest dharmas, the benefit of manifest diligence is shown. By obtaining, the dharmas to be manifested are also the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, the Lion's Play Samadhi, and other samadhis, as well as the doors of dharani. By practicing these, obtaining their fruits, and the meaning becoming manifest, this is to show the benefit of diligence in the Prajnaparamita. Among them, abiding in samadhi endowed with the limbs of enlightenment means that when entering the initial samadhi, one enters samadhi with the intention of manifesting the dharmas that are the cause of enlightenment. By practicing that samadhi, the samadhi that can manifest and obtain the seven limbs of enlightenment is called samadhi endowed with the limbs of enlightenment. Abiding in that samadhi, alternately entering the first dhyana and so forth and the cessation samadhi, is to show that one has obtained mastery over samadhi. The characteristics of samadhi endowed with the limbs of enlightenment and the Lion's Play Samadhi, and other samadhis, will be explained in detail later in the chapter on the Great Vehicle of Samadhi, from this very sutra, so they are not explained here. World-Honored One, furthermore, the thoughts of all sentient beings

From "should be made complete" onwards, up to "such a root of virtue should be made complete by the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, one should study the Prajnaparamita," it shows the remaining part of the previously stated benefits of complete diligence. It initiates the discussion of making the minds of all sentient beings complete and making the roots of virtue complete. In order to show in detail the great faults of the Bodhisattva, it is shown separately here. The phrase "what root of virtue is complete" and so on, shows the difference of making the root of virtue complete. Mentioning not falling into the lower realms means abandoning the root of virtue of the ten virtuous paths of action. Mentioning not being born into a lower caste means subduing pride, respecting the guru, and performing offerings, which is the root of virtue. Mentioning not abiding in the grounds of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas means realizing the selflessness of phenomena, which is the root of virtue. Mentioning not falling into the great faults of the Bodhisattva means having skillful means and not being attached to phenomena, which is the root of virtue. Those who wish to complete such roots of virtue should connect it with the phrase "one should study the Prajnaparamita." Then, the phrase "The venerable Sharadvatiputra said this to the venerable Subhuti" and so on, is the venerable Shariputra starting from questioning the great faults of the Bodhisattva, in order to dispel the doubts of the retinue and to show the teaching in detail, the two venerable ones, one asked and the other answered. The so-called great fault of the Bodhisattva is that in the stage of practice with aspiration, in the four stages of heat, peak, forbearance, and the supreme mundane dharma, at the time of the peak, one practices giving and so on without the three spheres being completely purified, and also does not fall into the grounds of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and also does not attain the first ground of the Bodhisattva, but remains in the intermediate state, which is the great fault of the Bodhisattva. Therefore, in response to the question of what is falling into a great fault, when Bodhi
