Some emanate as the body of the Buddha, completely maturing sentient beings, pleasing the Buddhas, and listening to the Dharma there. Having seen the qualities of that Buddha-field, they think: 'I shall make the Buddha-field even more vast and excellent than that.' There, there are also those who cause Bodhisattvas who are bound by only one lifetime to be born. This is the twenty-ninth. The remaining directions are also similar in meaning. The chapter on the South is the thirtieth. The chapter on the West is the thirty-first. The chapter on the North is the thirty-second. The chapter on the Northeast is the thirty-third. The chapter on the Southeast is the thirty-fourth. The chapter on the Southwest is the thirty-fifth. The chapter on the Northwest is the thirty-sixth. The chapter on the direction below is the thirty-seventh. The chapter on the direction above is the thirty-eighth, concluding with the statement: 'Some Bodhisattvas are also like that.' Sharadvatiputra, thus, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the six paramitas, from 'one should train in completely purifying the mind' in between, some Bodhisattvas are endowed with the thirty-two marks of a great being, their bodies are pleasing to behold, their senses are clear and completely pure, their conduct is beautiful, making them pleasing to the minds of all beings. Through the roots of virtue that all beings admire in them and the power of their past aspirations, they completely liberate sentient beings from suffering through the three vehicles. This is the thirty-ninth. Sharadvatiputra, thus, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, from 'do not disparage others' in between, some Bodhisattvas practice the six paramitas, having completely purified their senses, as an antidote to sentient beings who praise themselves and disparage others, even though their own senses are completely pure and without fault, they completely mature sentient beings through not praising themselves and not disparaging others. This is what is taught.

That is the fortieth. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, some Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, from the time of their initial generation of the mind of enlightenment onwards, and until they do not fall into evil destinies and unfortunate realms, some Bodhisattvas who abide on the first ground, abiding in the perfection of generosity and the perfection of ethics, by the result of those two perfections, without experiencing the suffering of poverty and the suffering of evil destinies, diligently strive for the benefit of sentient beings, it is taught that such also exist. That is the forty-first. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, some Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, from the time of their initial generation of the mind of enlightenment onwards, and until they have not attained the ground of non-retrogression, never abandon the path of the ten virtuous actions, it is said that such also exist. Some Bodhisattvas diligently take up the path of the ten virtuous actions, attain the first ground, and also establish sentient beings in the ten virtues, it is taught that such also exist. That is the forty-second. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, some Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, from the time of their initial generation of the mind of enlightenment onwards, and until they gather sentient beings completely with generosity and sweet speech, some Bodhisattvas diligently take up the perfection of generosity and the perfection of ethics, become wheel-turning monarchs, and also establish sentient beings in the ten virtues, gathering them with the two means of gathering, it is taught that such also exist.

From the phrase "abiding in the six perfections" to the phrase "those who never separate from the appearance of Dharma," it is explained that some Bodhisattvas abide in the six perfections, eliminate the darkness of ignorance of sentient beings by teaching the Dharma, fully mature them, and then manifest enlightenment. This is the forty-fifth (chapter). The phrase "Sharadvatiputra, this is how a Bodhisattva Mahasattva correctly arises from the Buddha's Dharma" indicates the order in which such Bodhisattvas flourish and develop in the Buddha's Dharma. The phrase "Sharadvatiputra, therefore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva" introduces the topic from the Bodhisattvas themselves and is spoken to distinguish the occasion for extensively explaining the Dharma. The phrase "deeds of body, speech, and mind that are accompanied by faults" does not refer to sinful, unwholesome deeds in this context. Rather, deeds of body, speech, and mind that have an object of focus are called faults. Having an object of focus means that it becomes a fault for a Bodhisattva practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, so such an opportunity should not be opened. This is what is being explained. The phrases "Having said this" and "The venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the Bhagavan" introduce the topic from the meaning and words themselves. To distinguish the occasion for extensively explaining the Dharma, he asks what deeds of body, speech, and mind are accompanied by faults. The phrase "The Bhagavan taught" explains what the faults of body, speech, and mind are, that is, focusing on body, speech, and mind as being truly existent, and viewing the actions done by them as truly existent. This is a fault of a Bodhisattva, and like a fault, it should be abandoned, therefore it is called a fault. The phrase "Sharadvatiputra, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, with what body, with what speech, with what mind does he generate a mind of stinginess?" explains the opposite of the six perfections—stinginess.
