When I, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practice the Perfection of Wisdom, from "because the three times are equal in emptiness" to "do not join or separate from the past extreme, the future extreme, and the present extreme," it shows that the edges of the three times do not aim to join each other. Those who have aims are those whose fruits of past actions ripen in the present, and whose fruits of present actions ripen in the future, so they think that karma and the three times are real. In order to dispel this kind of discrimination, ultimately, the three times are equal, inseparable, and empty, so they do not join or separate from each other. Sharadwati's son, again, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he strives for these aspects. Because of this striving, from "all-knowingness does not join or separate from the past" to "how can there be any joining or separation of all-knowingness with the present?" it shows that all-knowingness and the three times do not join or separate. Since both the three times and all-knowingness are not real in the ultimate sense, the past, future, and present times are not established as the objects of all-knowingness, so there is no joining or separation in the nature of what is to be aimed at and what is aimed at. This is the concluding statement. Sharadwati's son, again, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, from "form and all-knowingness do not join or separate" to "how can there be any joining or separation of all-knowingness and enlightenment?" it shows that conditioned and unconditioned dharmas and all-knowingness do not join or separate. Since form and other dharmas and all-knowingness are not established as real in the ultimate sense, form and other dharmas are the objects to be known by the wisdom of all-knowingness, that is, the objects of aim. All-knowingness is the aim, thinking that this is the object of aim and

Shariputra, abandoning the thought of things as agents, and if these forms, etc., are completely dedicated to things that accumulate merit such as generosity, the thought that it will become the cause of attaining omniscience, through this door of thought, abandoning the thought that exists like cause and effect, thereby showing that there is no combination or separation. If you practice in this way, you will be able to integrate into the practice of Prajnaparamita. Shariputra, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices Prajnaparamita, he should not be attached to "form is real"; he should not be attached to "form is unreal"... and he should not be attached to "omniscience is real"; he should not be attached to "omniscience is unreal". Here it is shown that one should not be attached to all phenomena of the world and beyond as real or unreal. In conventional truth, the opposite of real is unreal, and the opposite of unreal is real, but in ultimate truth, no phenomena such as form are established, so unreal cannot be established by its opposite. Therefore, one should not be attached to real and unreal in a mutually dependent way. This is the meaning here. Shariputra, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices Prajnaparamita, he should not be attached to "form is permanent"; he should not be attached to "form is impermanent"... and he should not be attached to "omniscience is permanent"; he should not be attached to "omniscience is impermanent". Regarding all phenomena of the world and beyond, some non-Buddhists are attached to permanence, while Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are attached to impermanence. In order to prevent these extreme views, in ultimate truth, phenomena such as form are not established as real, so one should not be attached to permanence and impermanence, which is called non-attachment.

One should not be attached to statements such as "form is suffering," up to and including statements such as "omniscience is happiness." One should not be attached to statements such as "omniscience is suffering." Because regarding all phenomena, both worldly and beyond worldly, such as form, some non-Buddhists perceive them as happiness, while Hearers and Solitary Buddhas perceive them as suffering. To counteract this inverted perception, in reality, all phenomena such as form are not established as truly existent. Therefore, the perception of them as happiness or suffering does not arise, which has been explained. One should not be attached to statements such as "form is self," up to and including statements such as "omniscience is self." One should not be attached to statements such as "omniscience is no-self." Similarly, non-Buddhists perceive self in phenomena such as form, while Hearers and Solitary Buddhas perceive no-self. To counteract these two extremes, a Bodhisattva practicing the Perfection of Wisdom does not perceive either self or no-self, which has been explained. One should not be attached to statements such as "form is peace," up to and including statements such as "omniscience is peace." One should not be attached to statements such as "omniscience is not peace." Because regarding all phenomena such as form, the characteristic of diligence is explained by abandoning the discrimination of peace and non-peace. In reality, since form and so on are not established as truly existent, their qualities, whether they are called peace or non-peace, cannot be ascertained. One should not be attached to statements such as "form is empty" or "not empty," up to and including all phenomena such as omniscience having or not having aspiration. Regarding all phenomena such as form, to counteract the perception of the doors to liberation—emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness—as truly existent, one does not strive even by perceiving emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness as truly existent. And if one does not strive even by perceiving the three doors to liberation as non-existent, then that is the Perfection of Wisdom.
