This is the teaching. If one is diligent in these seven emptinesses, it is called diligence, which refers to the seven that are separated individually, such as aggregates and elements. Although one strives in the Perfection of Wisdom with these seven emptinesses, it is not said whether one is diligent or not diligent. That is, if the characteristics of such diligent ones are shown, it is contrary to the understanding that such diligent ones are truly existent in reality. Showing the characteristics of those who strive in this way is only a conventional designation. Because the characteristics are not established in reality, it is not possible to say whether one is diligent or not diligent. This is what is taught. Why is that? Because, like this, he does not truly see whether form is diligent or not diligent, etc., which shows that characteristics are unattainable in reality. Furthermore, the self-nature of the individual distinctions of form, etc., is unattainable, and the self-nature of accumulation is unattainable, and one's own nature is unattainable, and all phenomena are unattainable. It is taught that if one practices emptiness in four ways, then diligence is real. Among them, practicing emptiness because the self-nature of the individual distinctions of form, etc., is unattainable, why is that? Like this, he does not truly see whether form is diligent or not diligent, etc., up to whether consciousness is a completely defiled dharma or a completely purified dharma. This is what is taught in between. The self-nature of the accumulation of form and other dharmas is unattainable. Does form travel together with feeling? Because it is not truly seen, up to does consciousness travel together with volition? Because it is not truly seen, etc., is what is taught in between. Why is that? It is because no dharma travels together with any dharma, etc., which teaches the reason why the self-nature of accumulation is unattainable. Shariputra, whatever is the emptiness of form, that is not form.

That is to say, the emptiness of form is unobstructed, and so on. The emptiness of consciousness is not consciousness, that is to say, the emptiness of consciousness does not act as consciousness. Between these, it shows that self-nature has no object of focus. Why is that? Sharadvatiputra, form is not different, emptiness is not different, emptiness is not different, and so on, not arising, not ceasing, not completely defiled, not completely purified, not decreasing, not increasing. Between these, it shows the reason why self-nature has no object of focus. The past is not, the future is not, and the present arising is not, in that there is no form. There is no feeling, and so on, in that there is no Buddha, no Bodhi. Between these, it shows that all dharmas have no object of focus. Sharadvatiputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices in this way is diligent in the Prajnaparamita. Practicing in this way is to attain the characteristic of diligence in the Prajnaparamita. This is shown. Practicing the Prajnaparamita in this way, but not truly seeing diligence or non-diligence in form. Sharadvatiputra, in this way, because all dharmas have no union or separation, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is diligent in the Prajnaparamita. Between these, because there is no discrimination of self-nature as the doer, and no view of self, the discrimination of diligence or non-diligence in self-nature is completely abandoned, so the characteristic of attaining diligence is shown in another way. Sharadvatiputra, again, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, he does not gather emptiness and emptiness, does not separate, and so on, no desire and no desire, does not gather and does not separate, nor is it the yoga of no desire. Between these, at the gate of liberation, gathering and separating

Eliminating conceptualization demonstrates the nature of diligence. If a dharma called emptiness existed as a real entity, then emptiness could possibly combine and separate with other non-emptinesses. However, since there is no dharma called emptiness that exists as a real entity, emptiness does not combine or separate with emptiness. "Nor is it the yoga of emptiness" refers to the samadhi of emptiness. Since that samadhi also has no entity, it does not combine or separate with other samadhis. This is the concluding statement. Similarly, the signless and the wishless should also be applied. Why is that? Because, for example, "In emptiness there is no gathering or separation," and so on, demonstrates the reason for the three doors of liberation being without entity. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva engages in the Prajnaparamita, the self-nature of all dharmas enters into emptiness. Because he understands it in that way, form does not combine or separate, and so on, up to consciousness does not combine or separate. This shows that the self-nature of the five aggregates is not established, therefore they do not combine or separate. From "form and the past extreme do not combine or separate" to "all-knowingness and the present arising do not combine or separate, because he does not truly see the present arising itself," this shows that all worldly and transworldly dharmas, and the three times, do not combine or separate. Because the dharmas themselves are not established by nature, and the three times are also not real entities, therefore it is not truly seen that they combine and separate with each other. Sharadvatiputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who acts in this way is said to be diligent in the Prajnaparamita. This shows the conclusion of the nature of diligence. Therefore, having realized that all dharmas and the three times are without object of attachment, and not truly seeing any of the dharmas and the three times, this is understood as diligence in the Prajnaparamita. This is its conclusion. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore
