Thus, having shown that one should strive for the perfection of wisdom because one desires the qualities of the ninth ground, now, in order to obtain the qualities of ultimately abiding on the tenth ground, it is shown that one should strive for the perfection of wisdom. It is said that one should study the perfection of wisdom because one desires to know all the qualities of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat Buddhas, the past, the future, and those who have thus appeared, and because one desires to obtain them. The qualities of those Buddhas, the Bhagavat Buddhas, are of two kinds: the qualities of ultimate truth and the qualities of conventional truth. Among them, the qualities of ultimate truth are the very nature of the Dharmakaya, which is completely pure. The qualities of conventional truth are the powers, the fearlessnesses, the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddhas, and so forth. Regarding the terms "conditioned dharmas" and "unconditioned dharmas," a conditioned dharma is said to be that which is made by the coming together and gathering of causes and conditions; it is called conditioned. It is either with outflows or without outflows. Among them, that which is with outflows is the dharmas that belong to the three realms. That which is without outflows is the nature of the noble path. Knowing those dharmas as they truly are in their conventional and ultimate nature is ultimate and realized, and therefore it is called perfection. Regarding the terms "dharmas with outflows" and "dharmas without outflows," that which is with outflows is form, and so forth, those in whom afflictions arise. That which is without outflows is the grounds, the perfections, nirvana, and so forth, those in whom afflictions do not arise. Those perfections are as before. Regarding the terms "wholesome dharmas" and "unwholesome dharmas," wholesome is without attachment, without ignorance, without hatred, and so forth. Unwholesome is attachment, hatred, and so forth. Regarding the terms "worldly dharmas" and "transcendental dharmas," those below the ground of application are worldly dharmas. From the first ground up to the ground of Buddhahood are transcendental dharmas. Regarding the terms "dharmas with form" and "dharmas without form," those with form are those that appear visible and are with obstruction.

Earth, etc. The formless refers to those that are invisible and unimpeded. As for "dharmas with prophecy" and "dharmas without prophecy," the dharmas with prophecy refer to giving with a mind free of attachment, hatred, and ignorance, and practicing discipline, etc., by which one will attain the heavens and great enjoyment, etc. All that can be prophesied belongs to this category. Dharmas without prophecy refer to practicing crafts and music, etc., the result of which is not certain whether it will be happiness or suffering. As for "definite dharmas" and "indefinite dharmas," the definite dharmas refer to those that are definitely in the category of Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas. The indefinite dharmas refer to those that depend on virtuous friends and evil companions. As for "arising dharmas" and "non-arising dharmas," the arising dharmas refer to those that arise from the three realms, such as the fruits of Shravakas like Stream-enterers, and the stages of Bodhisattvas like the first bhumi, as well as the aspects of enlightenment, Paramitas, etc., which are the causes for attaining Nirvana. The non-arising dharmas refer to the dharmas that are the opposite of these, becoming the cause of samsara. As for "dharmas with the aspect of decrease" and "dharmas with the aspect of distinction," the dharmas with the aspect of decrease refer to the knowable and the afflictive obscurations. The dharmas of distinction refer to those that are the antidotes to these two obscurations. As for "dharmas of ordinary beings" and "dharmas of noble ones," the dharmas of ordinary beings refer to actions that are contrary to reality, such as clinging to permanence in impermanence, clinging to happiness in suffering, clinging to purity in impurity, and clinging to self in non-self. The dharmas of noble ones refer to the opposite of these, such as contemplating impermanence, suffering, non-self, and impurity. As for "dharmas of learners" and "dharmas of non-learners," the dharmas of learners refer to the dharmas from Stream-enterer to Non-returner. The dharmas of non-learners refer to the dharmas of the Arhat fruit. As for "dharmas of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas," the dharmas of Shravakas refer to entering through the door of the Four Noble Truths.
