And to completely grasp the dharmas up to the attainment of all-knowingness, and not to study for the sake of eliminating them, until then, the realization that all dharmas neither increase nor decrease is the realization that all dharmas are without acceptance or rejection. Therefore, among the dharmas from form and so on up to the attainment of all-knowingness, the good ones are completely grasped and accepted, and the bad ones are completely abandoned and eliminated, hence it is taught not to study. Then, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the venerable Subhuti: Venerable Subhuti, is it that a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who trains in this way does not study in order to completely grasp and eliminate form? And so on, in order to explain in detail the reasons for not studying for the sake of completely grasping and eliminating, from form and so on up to the attainment of all-knowingness, is it that one does not study in order to completely grasp and eliminate in this way? Shariputra asked Subhuti. Subhuti said: Son of the venerable Sharadvati, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who trains in this way does not study in order to completely grasp and eliminate form, and so on, from form and so on up to the attainment of all-knowingness, one does not train in this way in order to completely grasp and eliminate, Subhuti said to Shariputra. He said: Venerable Subhuti, why is it that a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not study in order to completely grasp and eliminate form? And so on, from the aggregate of form up to the attainment of all-knowingness, one does not train in this way in order to completely grasp and eliminate, the reason for not studying is asking for the reason. Subhuti said: Son of the venerable Sharadvati, it is because there is no complete clinging to form, because of the emptiness of inner and outer, form does not completely cling to form, and so on, this is the reason for not studying for the sake of completely clinging and eliminating, as explained by Subhuti, that is, from form and so on up to the attainment of all-knowingness.

All those dharmas are, in the ultimate sense, empty of inherent existence, both internally and externally. There is no nature of what is grasped, and no nature of what grasps, so it is taught that one does not learn in this way in order to completely grasp or abandon. Son of Sharadvati, if that is the case, then the Bodhisattva Mahasattva will attain all-knowingness by not grasping all dharmas, because all dharmas are empty of inherent existence. By realizing that there is no grasping and no being grasped, that Bodhisattva who does not grasp any dharma with characteristics will attain all-knowingness, which is to show the benefit of non-grasping. It was said, 'Revered Subhuti, is it the case that a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who trains in this way is training in the Perfection of Wisdom and will attain all-knowingness?' This refers to Subhuti previously explaining the benefit of non-grasping, which is the attainment of all-knowingness. Sariputra asked in this way in order to have the retinue uphold the teachings. Subhuti said, 'Revered Saradvatiputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who trains in this way is training in the Perfection of Wisdom, and will attain all-knowingness by not grasping all dharmas.' This refers to Sariputra asking whether a Bodhisattva who trains in this way will attain all-knowingness, and the answer is that training in this way will lead to the attainment of all-knowingness, but not by grasping at characteristics, which is what is being explained. It was said, 'Revered Subhuti, how will a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who trains in this way, because there is no complete grasping or abandonment of all dharmas, attain all-knowingness?' This refers to the benefit of training in this way, without grasping or being grasped in relation to all dharmas, which is that all-knowingness will be attained. This is asking by what method this can be achieved. Subhuti said, 'Revered Saradvatiputra, in this case, a Bodhisattva.'
