Thus, the venerable Subhuti replied. Gods, these sentient beings are like dreams. Gods, these sentient beings are like illusions. Gods, form is also like a dream, like an illusion, and so on. Gods, perfect enlightenment is also like a dream, like an illusion, which is to teach the Dharma, listen to the Dharma, and the Dharma to be spoken, not only like a dream and like an illusion, but also the five aggregates, etc., up to perfect enlightenment, all Dharmas of the world and beyond the world are also like a dream and like an illusion, as it is said. Then, those gods said to the venerable Subhuti: Venerable Subhuti, if enlightenment is also said to be like a dream and like an illusion, is Nirvana also said to be like a dream and like an illusion? This is asked to clarify that some Hinayana practitioners and others hold Nirvana to be real. Subhuti said: Gods, I say that Nirvana is also like a dream and like an illusion, therefore, if there is another Dharma more excellent than Nirvana, I also say that it is like a dream and like an illusion. This is to say that the declaration and expression of the word Nirvana is merely a nominal establishment in conventional truth, but in ultimate truth, Nirvana is not real, and saying that there is something from nothing is like the meaning of appearing like a dream and an illusion. If there is another Dharma more excellent than Nirvana, I also say that it is like a dream and like an illusion, which is a word of abandonment, although there is no Dharma more excellent than Nirvana, but if there is one in a hundred, it is only nominally established as existing in conventional truth, and it is not established as real in ultimate truth, since that is also like a dream and like an illusion, what more to say about Nirvana? That is the meaning. Why is that? Because, like a dream, like an illusion, and Nirvana, these three are non-dual and indivisible.

The meaning of "non-existent" is that just as dreams and illusions do not truly exist, Nirvana is also merely a conventional expression. From the ultimate point of view, it is without substance. Therefore, dreams, illusions, and Nirvana are all without substance, of the same essence, and without distinction. This is what is being expressed. Then, the venerable son of Sharadvati, the venerable great son of Maudgalyayana, the venerable great Kaushtila, the venerable son of Katyayana, the venerable son of Maitreya, the venerable great Kashyapa, and thousands of Bodhisattvas said to the venerable Subhuti: "Venerable Subhuti, who will believe in this Prajnaparamita that is so profound, so difficult to see, so difficult to realize, so peaceful, so clear, so subtle, so excellent?" That is to say, who will believe in this Prajnaparamita, which shows all dharmas to be like dreams and illusions, so profound and vast, in the conventional sense? In the ultimate sense, no one will believe. In order to distinguish the occasion for explaining this meaning in detail, the great Arhats, the holy Shravakas, and many Bodhisattvas asked Subhuti: "Prajnaparamita is so profound," meaning that it is profound because it is difficult for those of the Hinayana, those of weak intellect, and those with the coarse discriminations of heretics who cling to self, to fathom with their wisdom. "So difficult to see" means that it is difficult to see because it is not the object of the five consciousnesses, such as the eye. "So difficult to realize" means that it is difficult to realize because it is not the object of mental consciousness. "So peaceful" means that it is peaceful because all afflictions and near afflictions are completely pacified. "So clear" means that it is clear because it is skillful in understanding all dharmas as they truly are and is the cause of making them clear. "So subtle" means that it is subtle because all elaborations of discrimination are completely pacified. "So excellent" means

“Ba” means good because it pacifies all suffering. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to those great Sravakas and Bodhisattva Mahasattvas: "Venerable ones, will the irreversible Bodhisattva Mahasattvas believe in this profound Prajnaparamita, which is so difficult to examine, which is not an object of examination, which is so subtle, which is so bright, which is so difficult to see, which is so difficult to realize, which is so peaceful, which is so good, which is so supremely excellent, which is to be understood by the wise and knowledgeable?" This means that for this profound and vast meaning of Prajnaparamita, the irreversible Bodhisattvas who abide on the eighth ground will believe. The meaning of profound, subtle, bright, difficult to see, difficult to realize, peaceful, and good is as explained above. The so-called "so difficult to examine" is because it is difficult to examine because it is understood by each individual. The so-called "not an object of examination" is because the thinking of the mind cannot reach it, so it is not an object of examination. The so-called "so supremely excellent" is because it is the most excellent place to realize the Dharma that transcends the world, so it is supremely excellent. The so-called "to be understood by the wise and knowledgeable" means that those who cling to characteristics and have conceptual thoughts cannot understand it, but the irreversible Bodhisattvas and other wise and knowledgeable people can reach and understand it, so it is said that it is to be understood by the wise and knowledgeable. Therefore, for such a profound and vast Prajnaparamita, it is not that no one believes, but that the irreversible Bodhisattvas will believe, which is what is to be expressed. The so-called "one who sees the truth," or "Arhat who has exhausted the outflows, one whose thoughts are complete," refers to those among the noble Sravakas who have entered the stream and see the four noble truths as they are, and the noble Arhats who have exhausted the outflows, should do
