It is shown that one abides in the perfection of transcendence. Not abiding in the manner of focusing on what is called "following faith," etc., refers to the individuals of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, as well as the individuals of Bodhisattvas, and the individuals of Tathagatas, not abiding in the manner of focusing on them is what is shown to be abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom. That is, it should be understood as belonging to the aspect of all-knowingness, as well as belonging to the aspect of knowing the aspects of the path, and belonging to the aspect of all-aspect knowingness. Among them, from what is called "not abiding in the manner of focusing on what is called 'following faith,'" up to what is called "not abiding in the manner of focusing on what is called 'Solitary Buddha,'" it is shown that one should not abide in the manner of focusing on the individuals of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Among them, what is called "following faith" refers to a Hearer with dull wisdom who has entered in order to directly realize the fruit of stream-entry. That person, because of dull faculties, does not realize it through his own intelligence, but follows the noble path with faith as he has heard from the scriptures, so he is called a follower of faith. What is called "following the Dharma" refers to a person with sharp faculties who has entered in order to directly realize the fruit of stream-entry. Because those people have sharp faculties, they do not rely on others, but understand and practice in accordance with the principles of the Dharma, so they are called followers of the Dharma. What is called "eighth" refers to a person who has entered in order to directly realize the fruit of stream-entry, and who falls at the end of the eighth level when counted upwards from the fruit of an Arhat, so he is called "eighth." What is called "stream-enterer" refers to a person who has obtained the first fruit of stream-entry. If one obtains in this way, what is called "having seven existences" refers to a person who has obtained the fruit of stream-entry, and because he has not exhausted the afflictions to be abandoned by cultivation, he revolves in existence among humans and gods, and if he obtains in this way, he will have seven births. What is called "going from lineage to lineage" refers to the stream-enterer.

Some individuals who have attained the fruit remain in samsara for two or three lifetimes, being born into good lineages of gods and humans. "One interruption" refers to an individual abiding in the fruit of stream-entry, who, in order to attain the fruit of once-returner, has one lifetime as an interval. Alternatively, attaining nirvana can also have one lifetime as an interval, meaning that attaining nirvana is hindered only by the next life. "Simultaneous head" refers to an individual abiding in the fruit of stream-entry, whose lifespan, karma, and afflictions are exhausted simultaneously, and who suddenly completely passes into nirvana in the realm of nirvana without remainder of aggregates. "Lifespan exhausted" or "afflictions exhausted" refers to an individual abiding in the fruit of stream-entry, some of whose lifespan and afflictions are exhausted successively. "Stream-enterer" refers to an individual abiding in the fruit of stream-entry, who has entered in order to realize the fruit of once-returner, and is close to attaining the fruit of once-returner. "One who does not fall into evil destinies" refers to an individual abiding in the fruit of stream-entry, who does not commit actions that lead to falling into the three evil destinies, and even if they have previously committed actions that lead to falling into the three evil destinies, their results will not ripen because they have cultivated antidotes. "Once-returner, who, having returned once to this world, makes an end to suffering" refers to an individual abiding in the fruit of once-returner, who comes from the world of gods to this world of humans, and after being born once among humans, realizes nirvana. "One who has entered in order to realize the fruit of non-returner" refers to the same once-returner who is close to attaining the fruit of non-returner, and has entered in order to realize the fruit of non-returner. "Non-returner, who attains complete nirvana in that very place" refers to an individual abiding in the fruit of non-returner, who, in the very place where they are born, completely passes into nirvana in that very lifetime.
