The so-called "perfection" refers to the reason why giving becomes the perfection of giving, such as giving with a mind that is not completely pure in the three spheres and has attachments. The so-called "not moving from the world" is because of attachment to the perception of self. The so-called "not surpassing" is because of attachment to the perception of other. The so-called "not transcending" is because of attachment to the perception of giving. Giving with a mind that is not completely pure in the three spheres and has attachments does not transcend the world, because it becomes the cause of the enjoyment of samsara, so it is called the perfection of worldly giving. Because it does not include the perfection of giving that transcends the world, it does not mean completely training the path to enlightenment. Because it is shared with all sentient beings and dedicated to the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment, it is called perfection. Because it has attachments and the three spheres are not completely pure, it does not include transcendence of the world. So, what is the perfection of giving that transcends the world? Like this, "the three spheres are completely pure," etc., specifically reveals the perfection of giving that transcends the world. The so-called "that giving is completely given to all sentient beings" means that the merit of giving with complete purity in the three spheres is also completely dedicated to all sentient beings in a conventional way. Why is it called the perfection of giving that transcends the world? Because it does not move from the world, surpasses, and transcends, it is called the perfection of giving that transcends the world. The so-called "not moving from the world" is because there is no attachment to self. "Surpassing the world" is because there is no attachment to others. "Transcending the world" is because there is no attachment to giving. Similarly, other perfections such as the perfection of discipline should also be applied in the same way. Venerable Sharadvatiputra, thus the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the six perfections and completely trains the path to enlightenment.

How is it said to be "purifying"? It is when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the six perfections, they purify the path to enlightenment. This is Shariputra asking Subhuti, summarizing the meaning of the question and giving the teaching. Thus, according to the order mentioned above, practicing the six transcendent perfections that transcend the world is the cause for attaining unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and it is the cause for complete purification. Therefore, it is taught that it is "purifying the path to enlightenment." Although the worldly six perfections cannot, by themselves, be considered the complete purification of the path to enlightenment, because they can become the cause for the transcendent perfections that transcend the world, it should be understood that they are the cause transmitted from the purification of the path to enlightenment itself. The Venerable Subhuti said: What is the path to enlightenment of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva? It was said above that practicing the six perfections with the three circles completely pure is purifying the path to enlightenment. To dispel the doubt of whether these six perfections are the purification of the path to enlightenment, or whether there is another path to enlightenment, Shariputra asked Subhuti. Subhuti said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, the perfection of generosity is the path to enlightenment of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, and so on, up to the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha are the path to enlightenment of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. The path to enlightenment is not something else, but from the six perfections and so on, up to the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, these pure dharmas are practiced in a way that the three circles are completely pure, and this is the cause for attaining unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, therefore it is called the path to enlightenment.

Having praised, saying that such practice becomes the path to enlightenment, it is very good. Shariputra asked Subhuti, "By the power of which of the six perfections does such transformation occur?" Subhuti said: "O venerable Sharadvatiputra, it is by the power of the Perfection of Wisdom." Among the six perfections, the Perfection of Wisdom is like the eye, being the most important. Because one possesses the Perfection of Wisdom, the three circles become completely pure. Therefore, cultivating the path to enlightenment is the power of the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? O venerable Sharadvatiputra, it is because the Perfection of Wisdom gives rise to the Dharma of the Hearers, the Dharma of the Solitary Buddhas, the Dharma of the Bodhisattvas, the Dharma of the Buddhas, and all virtuous Dharmas, and so forth. Among the perfections, the Perfection of Wisdom is the most important, and this is the reason for its power. 'Giving rise' means that it is the cause that perfects all virtuous Dharmas belonging to the three vehicles. 'Gathering completely and truly gathering' means that all virtuous Dharmas belonging to the three vehicles are completely grasped and pervaded by the Perfection of Wisdom. O venerable Sharadvatiputra, the Buddhas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones of the past also practiced this Perfection of Wisdom and manifested Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment, and so forth. This shows that the Perfection of Wisdom is the main cause for the Buddhas, the Bhagavat of the three times, to manifest Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment. O venerable Sharadvatiputra, if the Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not become discouraged or deluded when the Perfection of Wisdom is taught, O venerable Sharadvatiputra, that Bodhisattva Mahasattva will thus protect all sentient beings,
