is called by the name of... The state of purity and impurity is that of the noble ones, because they have both the state of enlightenment and the state of a bodhisattva. Therefore, the thusness of purity and impurity is called by the name of Bodhisattva. In the state of complete purity, there is only the state of enlightenment, so that thusness is called by the name of Tathagata. As it is said, 'Subhuti, the Tathagata is the ultimate expression of true thusness.' The term 'Mahasattva' is used because a bodhisattva possesses eleven great qualities. What are these eleven? A lineage that is in harmony with the fruit; aspiration that is in harmony with the lineage; thought that is in harmony with the aspiration; prayer that is in harmony with the thought; conduct that is in harmony with the prayer; diligence that is in harmony with the conduct; time that is in harmony with the diligence; accumulation that is in harmony with time; perfect accomplishment that is in harmony with accumulation; fruit that is in harmony with perfect accomplishment; and the benefit of sentient beings that is in harmony with the fruit. Because the Bodhisattva possesses these eleven great qualities, he is called a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. The term 'all dharmas' indicates how many there are. The term 'in all ways' indicates how they exist as they are. The phrase 'desiring to awaken to perfect enlightenment' indicates the thought of attaining perfect enlightenment. In this context, 'all dharmas' refers to two types of dharmas: those that are imputed and those that are perfectly established. Among these, the dharmas that are imputed belong to the three realms and the three times. The dharmas that are perfectly established are beyond the world, without birth, without cessation, peaceful from the beginning, naturally completely liberated from suffering, the nature of non-things, emptiness, and so on. The term 'in all ways' has two aspects: the conventional aspect and the ultimate aspect. The phrase 'desiring to awaken to perfect enlightenment'

There are two types: the wisdom of knowing all things and the wisdom of knowing all aspects. Among them, the wisdom of knowing all things enables all imputed phenomena to manifest and perfectly realize enlightenment in the aspect of conventional truth. The wisdom of knowing all aspects enables all perfectly established phenomena to manifest and perfectly realize enlightenment in the aspect of ultimate truth. Therefore, it is said that one desires to manifest and perfectly realize enlightenment in all aspects. What is called Prajnaparamita actually refers to the transcendental wisdom, non-conceptual, belonging to the vajra-like samadhi, which is perfected through aspiration, diligence, afflictions, karma, suffering, samsara, discrimination, qualities, knowable objects, and these nine aspects, hence it is called Prajnaparamita. Furthermore, the wisdoms obtained after that, both conceptual and non-conceptual, such as mirror-like wisdom, equality, discriminating awareness, and accomplishing activity, are also called Prajnaparamita because they arise from its cause, and the cause can be attributed to the result. The ultimate state of hearers and solitary realizers, the wisdom of the path of Arhat, is also a similar cause of Prajnaparamita, so it can be called Prajnaparamita. Bodhisattvas, starting from the stage of adhimukti-carya-bhumi up to dharma-megha-bhumi, through the gradual increase of listening, thinking, meditation, etc., purify the dharma-dhatu, being grasped by skillful means, and manifest the distinctions of realizing the meaning of the universal pervasion of suchness and the supreme meaning, etc. In each bhumi, the aspect of purity increases more and more, thereby obtaining the wisdom of more superior realization distinctions, which can also be called the name of Prajnaparamita. Whatever teachings expound the complete transformation of the collection of names, the collection of sentences, and the collection of letters, those are also the means to accomplish, realize, and perfect those wisdoms.
