Starting from 'is,' all those dharmas that are the realm of nirvana are neither associated nor unassociated. They are immeasurable, invisible, and unimpeded. Thus, they are without characteristics and have only one characteristic. Subhuti, in this way, you teach the Great Vehicle in accordance with the Perfection of Wisdom.' All these worldly and transworldly dharmas mentioned by name are ultimately of one taste in emptiness and have only one characteristic without characteristics. Because there is no difference, whatever dharmas are taught are completely encompassed by the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, the reason for teaching the Great Vehicle in accordance with the Perfection of Wisdom is shown. The characteristics of the eight emancipations and the ten expansions from those dharmas will be explained later. The characteristics of the others have already been explained. Why is that? Because there is no such thing as the Great Vehicle being different and the Perfection of Wisdom being different. Therefore, the Great Vehicle and the Perfection of Wisdom are non-dual and cannot be made into two. From 'cannot be made into two,' Subhuti, therefore, teaching the Great Vehicle becomes teaching the Perfection of Wisdom, and teaching the Perfection of Wisdom becomes teaching the Great Vehicle.' Up to this point, the reason for all those dharmas having one characteristic without characteristics is shown. 'Non-dual' means that the Great Vehicle and the Perfection of Wisdom, and so on, up to the eighteen unshared Buddha dharmas, all those dharmas are ultimately of one taste in emptiness, so they are called non-dual. 'Cannot be made into two' means that because they are of one taste in emptiness, they cannot be distinguished as different. Therefore, teaching the Great Vehicle becomes teaching the Perfection of Wisdom, and teaching the Perfection of Wisdom becomes teaching the Great Vehicle. It should be connected to where it is said, 'Teach the Great Vehicle in accordance with the Perfection of Wisdom.' Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One:

At that time, he requested and said: "World Honored One, in this way, a Bodhisattva does not focus on the limit of the past. A Bodhisattva does not focus on the limit of the future. A Bodhisattva does not focus on the middle. If one does not truly see or focus on the Bodhisattva who is to be instructed and shown the meaning of the Perfection of Wisdom, how can one instruct and show the Perfection of Wisdom to a Bodhisattva? In order to raise the topic for the meaning that will arise later, it is shown that a Bodhisattva is not focused on in the three times. Because form is universally boundless, a Bodhisattva should know it to be universally boundless. Likewise, until consciousness is universally boundless, a Bodhisattva should know it to be universally boundless. This shows the reasoning that a Bodhisattva is not focused on in the three times. The five aggregates, such as form, are empty in their own nature in the ultimate sense, so the limits of the three times cannot be grasped. Because they are boundless, there is also no focus on the three times for a Bodhisattva. One should know that it is boundless. This is what is shown. Form, a Bodhisattva, is not like that, and is not focused on. Likewise, until consciousness, a Bodhisattva, is not like that, and is not focused on. Thus, because form is universally boundless, a Bodhisattva should know it to be universally boundless. If that is the case, will form and so on become a Bodhisattva? In order to dispel such thoughts, it is shown that form, a Bodhisattva, is not like that, and is not focused on, and so on. World Honored One, in this way, I have not truly seen all Bodhisattvas, in all aspects, everything is completely..." and so on. According to the order explained above, if one does not see or focus on the Bodhisattva in all aspects, how can one instruct and show the Perfection of Wisdom to a Bodhisattva? Connect this with what follows. World Honored One, this Bodhisattva is merely a name, until it is not directly realized.
