I have shown that I will appear having subdued the world including humans and asuras. Victorious One, if the wisdom of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, like a vajra, is something that exists, and so on, this refers to the wisdom that, as a Bodhisattva progresses from the ten bhumis and enters the Buddha-bhumi, completely abandons all obscurations of afflictions and obscurations of knowledge, even down to the subtlest traces. 'Comprehending that all afflictions connected by traces are without substance' means that the traces of the obscurations of knowledge and afflictions themselves become the cause for generating subsequent afflictions, and therefore are called connections of traces. Victorious One, if the thirty-two marks of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva are something that exists, and if they are not something that does not exist, and so on, this shows that the thirty-two marks of a Bodhisattva and the thirty-two marks of a Tathagata are realized to be without substance. The thirty-two marks of a great being will be explained in detail later in the text itself. Victorious One, if the light of the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One is something that exists, and so on, this shows the realization that the light of the Buddha Bhagavan is without substance. If that light were something that exists, it would be obstructed, and therefore it would not be possible to fill even the three thousand great thousand world realms with light as numerous as the grains of sand in the Ganges River. In reality, although that light is without substance, in conventional truth, the blessings of the Tathagata cause limitless world realms to appear and pervade, this is what is being shown. Victorious One, if the speech of the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, endowed with sixty branches, is something that exists, and so on, this shows that the speech of the Tathagata, endowed with sixty branches, is without substance in ultimate truth. If that speech were something that exists, then the nature of sound would be obstructed, and therefore it would not be possible to make beings in the ten directions of the world realms, as numerous as the grains of sand in the Ganges River, clearly understand with speech.

Okay. The speech, in terms of ultimate truth, is without inherent existence, but in terms of conventional truth, it is through the blessings of the Tathagata that the ten directions of the world, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, are made manifest, and through speech, they are made to understand. The speech of the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One, possesses sixty branches, as stated in the "Secret Sutra of the Tathagata": "Peaceful Wisdom, furthermore, the speech of the Tathagata possesses sixty branches, namely: gentleness, mildness, agreeableness, suitability, purity, stainlessness, clarity, melodiousness and pleasantness, worthiness of being listened to, not being coarse, being pleasing, being tamed, not being rough, not being barbaric, being extremely tamed, being pleasing to the ear, causing the body to be soothed, causing the mind to be satisfied, causing the heart to be joyful, generating joy and happiness, being completely without suffering, being able to be completely understood, being able to be completely comprehended, being completely purified, causing joy, causing great joy, causing all to be understood, causing all to be comprehended, being logical, being connected, being without the fault of repetition, possessing the strength of a lion, possessing the sound of an elephant, possessing the tone of a dragon, possessing the voice of a dragon king, possessing the song of a Gandharva, proclaiming the sound of a Kalaviṅka bird, proclaiming the sound of Brahma, resounding as the sound of a Shangshang bird, being as pleasing as the sound of a Deva king, like the sound of a drum, not being arrogant, not being low, conforming to all sounds, being without verbal errors, being without incompleteness, not being discouraged, not being weak, being extremely joyful, being pervasive, being comprehended, being continuous, being abundant, making all sounds complete, making all senses satisfied, not being despised, not being immutable, not being doubted, being widely known in all retinues, possessing all excellent aspects." Thus it is proclaimed. Among these, gentleness is because it can show all realms and roots of virtue. Mildness is because it can bring happiness in this life. Agreeableness is because the meaning is excellent.
