Similarly, nothing will happen, and the Bodhisattva will not arise from the Mahayana of ultimate truth. The reason for saying "because of being extremely pure" is that it means because of being extremely empty. From "because of being extremely pure, the realm of phenomena is without object" to "the inconceivable realm is without object," it is taught that the phenomena belonging to the category of emptiness are without object. From "because of being extremely pure, the aggregates are without object" to "dependent origination is without object," it is taught that the phenomena belonging to the side of afflictions are without object. From "because of being extremely pure, the perfection of generosity is without object" to "because of being extremely pure, the all-knowingness itself is without object," it is taught that the phenomena of purification are without object. From "because of being extremely pure, the unborn is without object" to "the non-manifestation of action is without object," it is taught that the unborn, the unceasing, etc., which belong to the category of the realm of phenomena, are without object. From "because of being extremely pure, the prior limit is without object" to "because of being extremely pure, growth is without object," it is taught that the three times, coming, going, abiding, transference of life, birth, decline, and growth are all empty of inherent nature in ultimate truth. Therefore, it is taught that because of being extremely pure, there is no object. Someone asks: By what non-object are all things without object? The meaning is, is it because the causes of those phenomena that are said to be without object are not objectified, that they are without object? Or is it because the nature of those phenomena is not objectified, that they are without object? In order to dispel the doubts of some in the retinue, the Blessed One himself declared, "By what non-object are all things without object?" "Because the realm of phenomena is not objectified, the realm of phenomena is without object," meaning that in ultimate truth, the Dharma

Because the nature of the Dharmadhatu is unreal and unattainable, it is shown that the Dharmadhatu is unattainable. Why is that? Subhuti, the Dharmadhatu is unattainable, it is neither attainable nor unattainable. The so-called attainable and unattainable are spoken of from the perspective of real things. For unreal things, there is no talk of attainable and unattainable. Therefore, for the unattainable Dharmadhatu, there is no talk of attainable and unattainable. Just as it is said about the Dharmadhatu, so too, for Suchness, the Limit of Reality, etc., it should be combined up to the point where decrease and increase are unattainable. The first ground is unattainable, so it is said that the first ground is unattainable. Why is that? Subhuti, the tenth ground is unattainable, it is neither attainable nor unattainable. Up to this point, it is also shown that the White Pure Understanding Ground, etc., are also unreal in the ultimate sense, so there is no talk of attainable and unattainable. What is the first ground, etc.? Wherever it is, from the first ground to the tenth ground, it is unattainable. There are two types of ten grounds: The Bodhisattva's first ground, the Joyful Ground, to the tenth ground, the Cloud of Dharma Ground, are also called the ten grounds. If the White Pure Understanding Ground, etc., are called the ten grounds, then, in order to dispel the doubts of some in the audience as to which of the ten grounds is referred to here, the Blessed One himself pointed out the White Pure Understanding Ground, etc., by name. Among them, the White Pure Understanding Ground refers to the stage in the practice of aspiration where one first sees the dharmas purified by wisdom. The Ground of Lineage refers to the stage in the practice of aspiration where one is in the positions of warmth, peak, forbearance, and the highest mundane dharma, and because one possesses the lineage of the three enlightenments, it is called the Ground of Lineage. The Eighth Ground refers to counting upwards from the first rank of those who have attained the fruit of Arhat, and because one enters the eighth position in order to realize the fruit of Stream-enterer, it is called the Eighth Ground.
