Now, having realized, one will not differentiate between self and others, nor regard them as different. These six dharmas should be completely abandoned, which means that a Bodhisattva abiding on the fifth ground, if completely abandoning these six dharmas, will have truly entered the Great Vehicle. Furthermore, it is said that eighteen dharmas should be completely abandoned, which means that a Bodhisattva abiding on the fifth ground should not only abandon those six dharmas, but also abandon the ten non-virtuous paths of action, as well as the eighteen dharmas such as excessive pride. Thus, the ten non-virtuous paths of action should be completely abandoned, which refers to killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct with the body; lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, and idle chatter with the speech; and wrong views, harmful thoughts, and covetousness with the mind. If one practices these ten dharmas, it will hinder the attainment of a good rebirth, let alone the attainment of the noble path and unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Therefore, even the imprints of the ten non-virtuous actions should be completely abandoned. Excessive pride refers to the arrogance that arises from any qualities such as noble lineage, extensive learning, etc. Because one does not regard such dharmas as truly existing in ultimate reality, one does not generate the pride of thinking, "I am superior to others because of this quality." This is called completely abandoning excessive pride. Haughtiness refers to the arrogance that arises from a mind that despises other sentient beings. Because one does not cling to such objects of contempt as truly existing in ultimate reality, it is the complete abandonment of haughtiness. Inversions refer to clinging to things as real when all dharmas are empty in nature, which is the inversion of a Bodhisattva. Not clinging to all dharmas as real is the complete abandonment of inversions. Doubt refers to not having dualistic thoughts about suchness and unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Greed, hatred, and delusion will not be carelessly abandoned.

Do not let any object to which attachment, hatred, and delusion arise, as well as attachment, hatred, and delusion themselves, deteriorate, because they cannot be seen as they truly are. These eighteen dharmas are to be completely abandoned by a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who abides on the fifth ground. That is to say, if a Bodhisattva abiding on the fifth ground completely abandons these eighteen dharmas that would become faults, it indicates that they have correctly entered the Great Vehicle. Furthermore, Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abiding on the sixth ground should perfect six dharmas. This refers to: a Bodhisattva abiding on the sixth ground should perfect the six paramitas and abandon six dharmas. Like this, the so-called six paramitas refer to the fact that if one can perfect the six paramitas, one will be able to penetrate the ultimate of all knowable things, therefore one should perfect the six paramitas. Furthermore, the so-called six dharmas to be abandoned refer to the fact that a Bodhisattva abiding on the sixth ground should not only perfect the six paramitas, but also abandon the six dharmas that would become faults of a Bodhisattva. These contents can also be inferred by reversing the logic. Furthermore, Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abiding on the seventh ground should not do twenty things, etc., refers to the fact that a Bodhisattva abiding on the seventh ground should declare what should not be done and the dharmas that should be perfected. Among them, it is mentioned that one should not be attached to the four: self, life, person, because the views of non-Buddhists who are attached to the self have already been abandoned on the first ground, so there is no need to emphasize abandoning them here. Because the Bodhisattva of the seventh ground abides in the absence of characteristics, even worldly terms should not be grasped as characteristics such as self. One should not be attached to annihilation and permanence, because one has already realized that all dharmas neither arise nor cease. The so-called not to have the perception of characteristics refers to the seventh ground.
