These ten purifications of the ten grounds should be done, and so on. It shows that a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who abides on the first ground has truly entered the Great Vehicle if he possesses the ten purifications of the mind. What are the ten? They are the complete purification of superior intention, etc., in a non-objective manner. This means that a Bodhisattva abiding on the first ground should first purify his intention completely. The complete purification of intention also means accumulating many roots of virtue that have become accumulations of merit and wisdom through the generation of a mind endowed with the knowledge of all aspects, and training the mind in its place, which is called the complete purification of superior intention. The words "etc." are for the purpose of obtaining the qualities of the ten grounds of the Bodhisattva and for training the mind in order to abandon faults. Because of non-objectivity of signs, the objects of benefit are completely purified, and because of non-objectivity of sentient beings, the equality of mind towards all sentient beings is completely purified. This means that one should make the mind equal towards all sentient beings without near and far, without love and hatred. Then, one should benefit with the objects of the four means of gathering, cultivate the four immeasurables of love, compassion, joy, and equanimity, and without the sign of benefiting and without objectifying sentient beings, one should completely purify sentient beings, which is called the complete purification of the equality of mind towards all sentient beings. Because of non-objectivity of giving, bestowing, and receiving, giving is completely purified. This means that although one completely gives charity skillfully in conventional truth, in ultimate truth, one does not regard the object of charity, the giver, and the receiver as real, nor does one cling to signs, which is the complete purification of giving. In order not to become arrogant by this, the reliance on a virtuous friend is completely purified. This means that in order to obtain the knowledge of all aspects, one should serve, attend, and respect such a virtuous friend who truly encourages virtue, establishes virtue, and does not fall away from virtue after establishing it, and regard him as a guru. Even after relying on him, one does not become arrogant or haughty by this, which is reliance on a virtuous friend.

This is complete purification. Because all dharmas are unattainable, the complete purification of seeking the Dharma means that in order to attain omniscience, one listens to the Mahayana Dharma from a virtuous friend, receives the nourishment of thought and meditation, and does not fall into the realm of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. However, in the ultimate sense, those dharmas are unattainable, which is the complete purification of seeking the Dharma. Because the home is unattainable, the complete purification of repeated rebirths means abandoning the hustle and bustle of household life, taking ordination in the teachings of the Tathagata in all lifetimes, and doing so without interruption. However, in the ultimate sense, the home itself, which is a place to abandon hustle and bustle, is also unattainable, which is the complete purification of repeated rebirths. Because the signs of the excellent marks and signs are unattainable, the complete purification of devotion to the Buddha's body means seeing the Buddha's body adorned with marks and signs, and not separating from mindfulness of the Buddha until omniscience is attained. However, in the ultimate sense, the signs of the marks and signs are unattainable, which is the complete purification of devotion to the Buddha's body. Because the nature of the Dharma is unattainable, the complete purification of distinguishing the Dharma means that in order to ripen sentient beings, one distinguishes and teaches the twelve branches of the Tathagata's teachings in the conventional sense. However, in the ultimate sense, those dharmas are also unattainable, which is the complete purification of distinguishing the Dharma. Because the true nature of the Dharma is unattainable, the complete purification of eliminating pride and arrogance means knowing that the causes of pride and arrogance, such as power and extensive learning, are not truly existent, and therefore abandoning pride and arrogance, one will never be born into a lower caste, which is the complete purification of eliminating pride and arrogance. Because words are unattainable, the complete purification of truthful words means acting in accordance with what is said in the conventional sense, not lying and not deceiving sentient beings. However, in the ultimate sense, words are unattainable, which is the complete purification of truthful words. Subhuti, these ten complete purifications are
