Therefore, having abandoned all the outflows of afflictions, having obtained the characteristic of complete liberation of mind and wisdom, having attained the state of non-outflow and cessation, one abides, that is the meaning. 'My birth is exhausted' means that after attaining Nirvana with remainder, the wisdom arising from it knows that one will not be born in Samsara in the future. 'I have practiced the pure conduct' means that pure conduct refers to the cause of attaining cessation, the meaning of having completely and perfectly kept the precepts and so on. 'What should be done has been done' means that accumulating the collections of merit and wisdom, etc., all that should be accomplished has been accomplished. 'There is nothing else like this' means knowing with certainty by the wisdom arising from recollection that such aggregates will not be taken again. These knowledges are called powers because for all things that benefit sentient beings, in every way, they possess complete power, and they completely subdue all the powers of Mara, and they are not subdued by unfavorable things such as Mara and heretics, therefore they are called powers. Furthermore, Subhuti, the Great Vehicle of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva refers to the four fearlessnesses, etc., which explains that the four fearlessnesses are the Great Vehicle. Among them, from 'If I vow that I have realized complete perfect enlightenment' to 'Having the true Dharma, no one can refute it, I am able to refute it well', it explains the fearlessness towards realizing complete perfect enlightenment. The Tathagata has realized the selflessness of beings and phenomena, and has realized the unsurpassed complete perfect Bodhi, for those sharp-witted and powerful Samanas and Brahmins in the world, there is no fear that they will refute 'I have realized complete perfect enlightenment', and there is no fear, this is the fearlessness towards realizing complete perfect Bodhi. 'Vowing' means realizing in this way

To vow, "I am enlightened, having become a Buddha," is to make a vow. "Contending with the Dharma" means relying on the respective doctrines and tenets of ascetics, Brahmins, and others, and contending with that Dharma. "The true cause is not seen either" means that there is not even a trace of the object, fault, or contradictory cause that ascetics, Brahmins, and others argue against. Among them, "I have attained happiness" and so on, refers to showing the merits of being so invisible. Attaining happiness is because the activity of the body is completely pure, possessing happiness without physical discomfort and so on. "Attaining fearlessness" means that because the activity of speech is completely pure, there is no fear of the occurrence of faults in speech. "Conducting oneself in fearlessness" means showing that the activity of the mind is completely pure, without the fault of discouragement and so on. "Vowing in the realm of the supreme elephant herd" means showing the fruit of attaining happiness, just as the king of the elephant herd is not afraid of hail and so on, showing pride in hearing happiness. "Proclaiming the lion's roar in the assembly" means showing the fruit of attaining fearlessness, because there is no fault in speaking, just as the roar of the king of beasts, the lion, merely hearing it can cause all beasts and deer to hide and overwhelm them. The words of the Blessed One, merely being heard, can cause all opposing adversaries such as demons and heretics to hide and overwhelm them, this is the meaning of proclaiming the lion's roar. "In the world, whether it be an ascetic, a Brahmin, a god, a demon, Brahma, or anyone else, the wheel of Brahma that cannot be turned according to the Dharma, I shall turn it well" means showing the fruit of attaining fearlessness, because the activity of the mind is completely pure, so he turns the unsurpassed wheel of Dharma that no one can turn. From vowing "I have exhausted the defilements" to "I shall turn the wheel of Brahma well," it shows the fearlessness of having exhausted the defilements.

That is, the Tathagata has completely abandoned all the outflows of afflictions such as desire, even up to the imprints. There is no doubt that ascetics and Brahmins, etc., would argue that the outflows have not been exhausted, and there is no fear, because the outflows have been exhausted. The meaning of other words such as not seeing the cause correctly is the same as before. Whatever I have taught as the Dharma of Obstruction, relying on those, there is no such thing as not becoming the Dharma of Obstruction. From "the wheel of Brahma should be well turned" to the end, it shows the fearlessness that the Dharma of Obstruction will not change. If it is said that afflictions such as desire will become obstacles to Nirvana, then the opponents such as ascetics and Brahmins think that even relying on the Dharma of afflictions such as desire will not become obstacles, showing that there is no doubt that this kind of opposition will arise, and there is no fear. Other words are the same as before. Whatever I have said about the arising of the Noble Path and the realization, even "Subhuti, this is also a Bodhisattva Mahasattva in the way of non-objectification", it shows that the path of obtaining all perfections and definitely arising will not be afraid of such changes. If the Noble Path shown by the Tathagata is diligently practiced, suffering will cease and Nirvana will be attained. Regarding what is shown, the opponents such as ascetics or Brahmins think that even if the Noble Path is diligently practiced, suffering will not cease and Nirvana will not be attained, showing that there is no doubt that this kind of opposition will arise, and there is no fear. "The arising of the Noble Path" means that the eightfold Noble Path can be liberated from Samsara and can give rise to Nirvana, so it is called arising. "Realization" means that if you practice the Noble Path, you will realize the Dharma Realm. "The suffering caused by this will also be completely exhausted" means that if you practice the Noble Path, the suffering of the person who practices the path will also be completely exhausted.
