. It is called universal union because of universal combination, that is, abandoning those afflictions is called abandoning all universal unions. The so-called being skilled in completely pacifying all actions and afflictions means that all those Bodhisattvas are skilled in the methods of abandoning all actions and afflictions of themselves and all sentient beings. The so-called being skilled in the wisdom of thoroughly understanding the truth means being skilled in the methods of oneself and others understanding the four noble truths and the conventional and ultimate truths. The so-called constantly and continuously believing that all dharmas are like images means that for the dharmas of the scriptures, such as the twelve divisions of scriptures, which appear as the nature of sounds and words, they are not regarded as real but understood as like images. The so-called being fearless in teaching the Dharma of immeasurable dharmas means that although the dharmas of the scriptures are not regarded as real in the ultimate sense, in the conventional sense, they are skilled in teaching various Dharma principles such as Prajnaparamita and the aspects of enlightenment, so they can separately teach these dharmas in any retinue without fear or hesitation. The so-called being skilled in thoroughly understanding the nature as it is means showing the merit of being skilled in entering the realm of wisdom of the Tathagatas through the cause of perfecting the wisdom of Prajnaparamita. The realm of wisdom of the Tathagatas is also of two types: thoroughly understanding the ultimate nature as it is, and thoroughly understanding the nature of conventional dharmas as it is. Among them, thoroughly understanding the ultimate nature as it is means that in the ultimate sense, all dharmas are only suchness, beyond the realm of all characteristics and discriminations. In the conventional sense, thoroughly understanding the nature as it is means the supreme conduct of the Buddhas and Bhagavat, such as completely maturing sentient beings and completely purifying the Buddha lands. These are the realms of the Tathagata's wisdom, as they truly

It means to be skilled in realizing things as they are, hence the term "wise." The phrase "completely grasping beings with the aspiration of arranging limitless Buddha-fields" indicates the merit of accomplishing what was previously aspired to, through the cause of perfecting the aspiration pāramitā. Previously, when bodhisattvas were abiding in the lower grounds, they saw and heard the various limitless adornments and arrangements of Buddha-fields such as Sukhāvatī and Padmavatī. They made aspirations, saying, "Whenever I manifest enlightenment, may my Buddha-field be like that, or even more excellent." In accordance with their aspirations, they exerted effort and perfected the conduct of a bodhisattva. Through this power, when abiding on the ten grounds, they possessed such a pure Buddha-field. Therefore, it is called "completely grasping beings with the aspiration of arranging limitless Buddha-fields." The phrase "constantly and continuously manifesting the samādhi of recollecting the Buddhas abiding in countless world-realms" indicates possessing the fruit of perfecting the dhyāna pāramitā. Due to the power of those bodhisattvas previously cultivating the samādhi of recollecting the Buddhas, when abiding on the ten grounds, they also manifest all the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, abiding in immeasurable and countless world-realms, and they constantly abide in the presence of those Buddhas. This is the meaning. The phrase "skilled in approaching all places where Buddhas appear" indicates being skilled in going to all the world-realms where Buddhas will appear, to offer and venerate them. The phrase "skilled in requesting immeasurable Buddhas" means going to the presence of all the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, abiding in immeasurable and countless world-realms, requesting them to turn the wheel of Dharma, and requesting those who intend to pass into parinirvana to remain for a long time. This is called being skilled in requesting.
