Furthermore, it explains "with existence" and so on. In the treatise, it says: "Turning away from form and so on is a sign, by generating twenty aspects, residing in the limbs of ascertainment, the characteristic of non-retrogression is." Here, the characteristics of knowing as non-retrogression are: turning away from form and so on, doubt, non-leisure being exhausted, one's nature abiding in virtue, others being absorbed into it, having others as a basis, such as giving, having no hesitation about the profound meaning, not associating with loving bodies and the five obscurations, destroying all predispositions, mindfulness and awareness, clean clothes and so on, no worms arising on the body, without deceit, taming the mind, without taking and stinginess, possessing the nature of Dharma, going to the virtuous, seeking hell for the sake of sentient beings, not wanting to be led by others, showing respect to those who show other paths, understanding what is called respect, practicing actions that please the Buddha. With these twenty signs, abiding in the heat, peak, forbearance, and supreme Dharma, one does not regress from perfect enlightenment. This is what is said in the treatise, indicated by signs. What is said about this is from "then" and so on. These categorize and clarify, therefore it is "aspect." These indicate, therefore it is "sign." If asked what these clarify and examine, it is "characteristic." Although the meaning is the same, these three are used to explain, in order to cut off doubts about other meanings, or to explain with different names. Why? Because it is non-duality, all phenomena of form and so on, because there is no ultimate truth, therefore it is Suchness. For Suchness, there is no one, two, or many. Therefore, Suchness, because it is non-dual, is inseparable, because it is not to be taken as two, it is undivided. Being separated from the nature of discrimination, it is non-discrimination. Because it is not the object of discrimination, it is non-discrimination. Thus, thus abiding in the nature of Suchness, and having the same taste as Suchness. Non-discrimination is truly so. Non-discrimination is reversed.

"Having heard" refers to after hearing. "Having gone" refers to later, not being dull is not harming. "Not making two minds" refers to various kinds of minds being two minds, not doing that. These are explained in detail, not doubting and not being ignorant, which is to negate not practicing. "As it is" refers to everything being ultimately true, in conventional truth, especially believing in form, etc., which is faith. Understanding is through wisdom. Knowing these in this way is the main sign, what is said here about complete cutting off is, not looking, etc., like that, to that, those, that is, to form, etc., knowing the sign of turning back. "Also" etc., others, that is, to this Dharma, of the renunciants of the outsiders. "Looking" is looking respectfully. "Knowing" is through worldly wisdom. "Seeing" is through transcendental wisdom. "Giving" is giving respectfully. "Not relying" is not relying or not taking refuge. To its truth and the Three Jewels, dualistic doubts are exhausted, not doing all these, this is the sign of doubt being exhausted. "Subhuti also" etc., the lower realms, that is, hell, hungry ghosts, and animals, are included by the lower realms, barbarians, long-lived gods, not hearing the Buddha's words, wrong views, and those with incomplete faculties, what is indicated by these unfree states is the object of unfree states, that is, women are mostly controlled by others, therefore they have no power for virtuous deeds, so they are unfree, this is the sign of unfree states being exhausted. "Also" etc., killing is, to other sentient beings and thinking they are sentient beings, wanting to kill it, approaching, and killing it, these are the five branches. Regarding something possessed by another, after looking at it, if one thinks of stealing it in one's mind, stealing by force, that cause, thinking of robbing others of their wealth, is taking what is not given, that is, the wealth of others, thinking that it is wealth, wanting to rob it, approaching, and taking it.
