It is to indicate them as the very indicator who shows the way. Like a precious jewel, it is merely by universally pointing that, just as from any desired wall etc., the sound of indication will arise. Even though there is no thought about it, it will enter due to the previous pull. For the sake of all sentient beings, all directions are different. This is mentioned incidentally, so there is no need to elaborate. As previously stated, the activity of the Dharmakaya, which is the nature of the three bodies, is briefly stated as "lion's roar" and so on. The lion is the best of beasts, and similarly, the Tathagata is the best of all beings, including gods and humans. Therefore, it is called a lion. Its Dharma is to completely fulfill all wishes and to frighten the opposing beasts, so it is called the lion's roar, like the lion's banner. Its sound is the indicator, that is, the Bhagavan. He thinks with wisdom and goes to the other shore, so it should be known as Prajnaparamita. Furthermore, the lion's roar shows twenty-seven activities. This should be observed in detail in the Great Mother Sutra. According to its power, the treatise says: guiding beings to the work of peace, placing the four things in the four means of gathering, fully understanding all defilements, benefiting sentient beings as they are, benefit and the six perfections, the Buddha's path and the emptiness of nature, the cessation of duality, signs and the absence of signs, completely maturing embodied beings, the path of the Bodhisattva, reversing attachment, attaining Bodhi and the Buddhafield, completely purifying, immeasurable and the benefit of sentient beings, the qualities of the Buddha's support etc., the limbs of Bodhi, the paths, not wasting and seeing the truth, abandoning perversion, and also that rootless principle, completely purifying and accumulating, for conditioned and unconditioned things, completely not knowing their difference, and placing in Nirvana. The activities of the Dharmakaya are considered to be twenty-seven kinds. The Bhagavan has seen these.

It is to manifest incarnations for the purpose of taming, that is, to pacify the hellfire of hell beings, to give alms such as one's own flesh to animals, to give food and drink to hungry ghosts, and to teach the Dharma through almsgiving alone, causing them to generate faith, thereby causing them to be reborn as gods and humans. From the heavens, they again manifest the Hinayana Dharma that accords with their inclinations, causing them to generate faith, thereby causing them to be reborn as humans, until they are placed between the Shravaka Bodhi. This is the peaceful activity of taming beings. Furthermore, for people, giving both internal and external material alms, as well as worldly and transcendental Dharma alms, and teaching in a way that accords with reason, this is the activity of placing them in the four objects of gathering. For the afflictive obscurations and the obscurations to knowledge, complete purification refers to their cessation nature. This is also achieved through the realization of the selflessness of persons and phenomena, which is the activity of placing them in the knowledge of afflictions and purification. For example, a magician conjures up various kinds of things, but worldly people do not understand that all of this is unreal. Similarly, when practicing the Prajnaparamita, he sees that the skandhas, etc., are inseparable from the essence of emptiness, and in the ultimate truth, there are no sentient beings, because the established dharmas are without inherent existence, which is the activity of truly establishing oneself for the benefit of sentient beings. He gives alms and also encourages others to give alms, and similarly, with words such as guarding the precepts, this is the activity of placing them in the six paramitas. He correctly takes up the ten virtuous paths of action, etc., which is the activity of placing them on the path to Buddhahood. The Bodhisattvas' paramitas and other dharmas, as well as their three wheels and results, are all taught as emptiness. And they practice these dharmas until they attain unsurpassed Bodhi, which is the manifestation of emptiness.
