And, having great compassion for beings, is the unshared Dharma that only Shakyamuni Buddha possesses. What the eighteen unshared Dharmas proclaim is the omniscient wisdom, which is called the Dharmakaya. Thus it is said. The aspects of enlightenment and the immeasurable should be categorized separately. 'Gradually' should be connected with the following. 'Without protection' means for the sake of protecting from what is not real, the meaning of 'without protection' is threefold. Dharmakaya is the collection of the undefiled Dharmas of all Buddhas. As it should be, I have said much, and I will also say the rest. The eight liberations, namely, 'one who has form contemplates forms,' refers to good colors, bad colors, blue, yellow, red, and white, which is the first liberation. 'Without the perception of form internally, one contemplates external forms,' this is the same as before, and this is the second liberation. 'The liberation of beauty, having realized and perfected it with the body, one abides,' this is the third liberation. The four, such as the sphere of limitless space, and the cessation of perception and feeling, are eight in total. These are liberated from obscurations, hence they are called liberations. Among them, three are liberated from the obscuration of nirvana. The remainder are liberated from the obscuration of the samadhi of abiding in peace. Again, three are with form. Five are without form. The eighth is the complete pacification of obscurations. 'With form' is to perceive oneself as having form. 'Contemplation' is to believe in one's mind and transform and contemplate. 'The liberation of beauty' is to transform the beautiful and unbeautiful forms, and to attain the thought of non-action, hence the order is in accordance with and in opposition to what is agreeable and disagreeable. The cessation of perception and feeling is the eighth, the mind and mental factors, the afflicted mind, are eliminated from all previous arising. The object of meditation, the sphere of dominance abides in the mind, hence it is called the sphere of dominance. These are the eight. Among them, from the first liberation, two can be accomplished. From the second, also two. From the third, four.

Conceiving of internal form, one sees external forms that are small, of bad color, of good color, inferior, and superior. Knowing and mastering those forms, thus conceiving, this is the first. Conceiving of internal form, one sees external forms that are large, of good color and of bad color, and likewise knowing, this is the second. Not conceiving of internal form, one sees external forms that are small, and so forth, this is the third. Not conceiving of internal form, one sees external forms that are large, and so forth, this is the fourth. From the third liberation, the fourth is manifestly accomplished. Conceiving of internal form, one sees external forms that are blue. Blue in color. Showing blue. Appearing blue. For example, a flax flower. Or a Varanasi cloth that is richly blue. Blue in color. Showing blue. Appearing blue. Likewise, mastering those forms, thus conceiving and seeing, this is the fifth. Likewise, yellow and so forth, for example, a flower called Donga, and so forth, this is the sixth. Likewise, red and so forth, for example, a flower called Pandujivaka, and so forth, this is the seventh. Likewise, white and so forth, for example, a star called Kamapavasang, and so forth, this is the eighth. Among these, "small" refers to the number of sentient beings, because their measure is small. Good color and bad color refer to the agreeable and the disagreeable. Inferior and superior refer to what is possessed by gods and what is possessed by humans. Having faith in those liberations, one masters by the birth-place of mastery. Because one repeatedly does not see and does not appear, therefore it is mastery. Knowing is by means of calm abiding. Seeing is by means of insight. Thus conceiving is because of the absence of manifest pride. "Large" refers to what is not a sentient being, these are houses and palaces and mountains and so forth, because their measure is large. "Blue" refers to what has been taught. The remainder refers to what has been spoken. Blue in color.
