The characteristic of enlightenment is suchness. That too is established as its characteristic. It is said that "that and that" refers to the path of meditation. The chapter that mainly teaches emptiness is the chapter on emptiness. The commentary on the difficult points of the Eight Thousand Verses of the Perfection of Wisdom, "Essence of the Heart," composed by the teacher Ratnakara Shanti, is the eighteenth chapter. From "Then, the Blessed One" to "will become," the statement that the previous mind and the subsequent ones are not related to enlightenment is the argument. From "Thus he asked" to "also wins," the answer is given with the example of a lamp. Here, the scripture says: "The mind is not enlightened by the previous one, nor is it by the subsequent one." This is the argument. In the manner of the lamp example, it is connected to "enlightenment." This is the answer. Then, the scripture says: "The nature of the profound dharma has eight aspects," and it is connected to "enlightenment." After teaching only the enlightenment of the characteristic of suchness in the eighteenth chapter, whatever has the characteristic of enlightenment and its retinue is the eight profound ones. How are they eight? "Birth and cessation, suchness and knowable, knowledge and the object of experience are non-dual, skillful means are profound." It is said that non-duality and skillful means are divided by grouping them into one. Therefore, from "Thus he spoke" to "this dependent arising is profound," it is Subhuti who shows the occasion of profoundness. "Other than" means not those. From "Thus he asked" to "skillful means," the eight profound ones are taught. What is the mind? It is the unreal, completely conceptualized, the nature of delusion. Cessation means cessation because the continuum is exhausted. "Not" means the meaning of non-existence, meaning that the manifestation of the two graspers of delusion is exhausted. This is the exhaustion of birth. What mind is born? It is without delusion, delusion.

Because cessation depends on the mind, it is considered the arising of the mind. The term "nature of cessation" refers to each moment. The term "cessation" refers to the cessation of continuity. The term "no" means arising from its own nature, because it has the distinction of prayers and so on, and it is made without cessation. The term "which mind has not arisen" refers to what is said to be profound arising. The term "which nature of cessation" refers to what was pointed out immediately after passing. The reason for saying "which dharma of cessation" again here is because it is a repetition. The term "which mind" refers to the continuity of which mind. The term "nature of not arising and not ceasing" refers to from beginningless and endless. The term "which dharma" refers to the cessation that is said to be nirvana. The term "cessation by nature" refers to cessation by its own nature. The term "dharmata" refers to emptiness. This is profound cessation. The term "does it abide in suchness" means, as long as space exists, will suchness not remain constant? The answer is "no," because it is examined by continuity. So it is thought. The term "suchness is profound" is because even true wisdom is very subtle. This is suchness is profound. The term "does suchness have mind" is because it is knowledge, so it is its basis. The answer is "no," because it is not reasonable for the knower and the known to be different. The term "is that mind suchness" is considered to be the same nature. The term "does it exist separately from suchness" is because of the different nature. The answer is "no," because although the nature is different, it has its own nature. Therefore, although it is to be held, it is not called suchness, this is profound knowable. The term "do you truly see" refers to the nature of the mind. The answer is "no," because it is not the holder. Therefore, although it is not the holder, the mind is the knower, this is profound knowledge. The term "acting in the profound" refers to the meaning of the Prajnaparamita. The term "completely wandering" refers to the characteristics of the object. Does not enter.
