Desire is aspiration. Completely destroying all non-virtuous dharmas is diligence. Faith is the realization of the guru's teachings. What precedes it is extreme tranquility. Furthermore, mindfulness is an aspect of correct awareness. Correct awareness is an aspect of higher vision. In that, the mind's manifest activity is attention. Absence of afflictions is equanimity. One cultivates the miraculous feet that possess the activity of abandoning the samadhi of desire and so forth, meaning to be isolated from afflictions. Freedom from attachment is freedom from attachment to existence. Cessation is suffering. Revealing and eliminating those is suffering, as it relies on them. Therefore, cultivate complete accomplishment. Because of supreme mastery, it is called a root, meaning the five, such as faith. Because it generates and attains transcendent dharmas and becomes the master, it is called a root, meaning the root of faith, the root of diligence, the root of mindfulness, the root of samadhi, and the root of wisdom. From seeing the signs of possessing miraculous feet, certainty arises that later it will become extraordinary, so faith arises in the realization of the teacher and those hearers; this is the root of faith here. Because faith increases, diligence and so forth also increase, so they become the five roots. Thus, when cultivating the roots, from the power of faith to the power of wisdom, because they are not destroyed by unfavorable forces such as demons. Bodhi is the path of seeing that realizes things as they truly are, which is complete bodhi, from the limb of correct mindfulness of bodhi to the limb of equanimity of correct mindfulness of bodhi. In that, the discrimination of dharmas, diligence, and joy are aspects of higher vision. Extreme tranquility, samadhi, and equanimity are aspects of calm abiding. Mindfulness is an aspect of both. By attaining those, having abandoned the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing, having seen oneself, in order to abandon what is to be abandoned by cultivation, one cultivates the eightfold noble path as three aggregates.

Right effort is the aggregate of wisdom. Right speech, the boundary of action, and feeling are the aggregate of discipline. Right mindfulness and samadhi are the aggregate of samadhi. The noble ones are the learners. They cultivate this noble path of learning in order to abandon all defilements and to realize liberation. Therefore, these are the eight limbs of the noble ones, hence the eight limbs of the noble path. These are mindfulness and so forth, divided into seven sections each, and in accordance with the aspects of enlightenment, they become thirty-seven. Enlightenment is the wisdom of knowing cessation and non-arising. What is in accordance with it is the aspect of enlightenment. The so-called three samadhis are the three doors of liberation: the self-characterized, the completely imputed, its nature is completely non-existent, therefore it is emptiness. The self-nature of the perfectly established is inexpressible, therefore it is signless, so it is signless. The nature of other-powered is delusion, because it appears as a non-existent nature. The root of delusion is also affliction, therefore it is to be abandoned, not to be desired, therefore it is wishless. The eleven knowledges are as the sutra says: knowing that suffering does not arise is knowing that the arising of suffering does not arise. The so-called knowing abandonment is abandoning the nature of origination, afflictions, etc., that is knowing abandonment. The so-called knowing the cessation of suffering is knowing the cessation of suffering. To realize cessation, by which path does one realize cessation, that is its knowledge, by this one ceases suffering. Knowing the exhaustion of desire, etc., is knowing exhaustion. Knowing that desire, etc., do not arise is knowing non-arising. Knowing the realization of liberation is knowing dharma. Knowing impermanence, etc., by inference is subsequent knowing. Because it is solely focused on one completely imputed, knowing the minds of others is conventional knowing. Familiarity with the path is habituation to the path. Knowing according to the sound is it.

It is the language of all the Sugatas and gods and humans, etc. The three masteries are as in the sutra, because they are the masters of pure dharmas, therefore they are masteries. Whichever mastery has the function of making everything that is not understood understood, that is called that mastery. The mastery of omniscience and the mastery of guarding omniscience are the masteries that possess omniscience. The so-called absence of appearance is because the four inversions of the Hearers, etc., do not appear, and also because all the signs of elaboration of the Bodhisattvas have ceased, and they only focus on the nature of reality. Subduing arrogance is for the sake of subduing afflictions as is appropriate. These three samadhis, which include conceptualization and analysis, etc., are as in the sutra. The ten recollections, such as the recollection of the Buddha, etc., are as in the sutra. Meditation and the formless are taught as the practice of entering. The immeasurable is also like the immeasurable of the practice of entering. The eight liberations are: one who has form sees forms, this is the first liberation. Internally perceiving the absence of form, seeing external forms, this is the second liberation. Being intent on the beautiful is the third liberation. These three are pure because they become the antidote to the obscuration of transformation. Among them, the first two are impure, and the third is beautiful. Some yogis, in the desire realm, in order to counteract attachment to colors, etc., enter into samadhi focusing on internal sounds, etc., and after that, focusing on external blue, etc., enter the first dhyana. In order to counteract attachment to colors, etc., of the first dhyana, it is shown to enter the second dhyana, the so-called one who has form sees forms, because it focuses on internal form, it is called having form. Because it focuses on external form, it is called seeing form. The yogi, because he does not focus on the internal, but only focuses on external things, etc., and enters the first or second dhyana as before, is also said to do so. That is, there is no internal form
