And, one is displeased with slander. Thus, in the conduct of a Bodhisattva, it is taught to abide in mindfulness, and then in the conduct of a Hearer, it is taught to abide in mindfulness of the body, which are fourteen in number. Among them, there are three through the means of knowing: for long breaths and lights, etc., this is the first. For short breaths, etc., this is the second. For the remembrance of exhaling and inhaling, this is the third. The fourth is through the means of distinguishing the elements. The fifth is through the means of the thirty-six impure substances. There are nine through the means of the unpleasant. Among them, what is called "manifest" refers to walking. What is called "not returning" refers to returning. What is called "completely viewing" refers to the front. What is called "separately viewing" refers to all directions. What is called "contracting" refers to gathering. What is called "truly abiding within" refers to tranquility and insight and diligence. Because one possesses this mindfulness, one is mindful. The breath of the body entering from the nostrils is inhaling. Appearing is appearing outward, like a potter who is well-trained, or like his attendant disciple. Skin and peeling are through the distinction of inner and outer. Tendons are veins. Kidneys are kidneys. Liver is liver. Lungs are lungs. Spleen is spleen. Digested and undigested are food. The ashes of saliva are lumps of phlegm. Blood is rotten blood. Chunpa is plowing the field. Bada is the container for grains. What is called a cemetery refers to indication. What is called the place where corpses are abandoned refers to subsequent indication. What is called one day after death, etc., are the three in order, such as swelling. Whatever is swollen is eaten by worms, because worms are born. Or, what is eaten is scattered. Therefore, when seeing a corpse in a cemetery, one connects oneself to be the same as it. What is called this Dharma-nature refers to indication. What is called having such a nature refers to subsequent indication. Then, if there is doubt that the living body is not like that, but the dead body is like that, therefore it is said, "It does not go beyond this Dharma-nature," and if there is a contrary proximate cause, it will certainly be so.

It is because of transformation. This mind must be abandoned, which is the right abandonment. These are of four kinds. That is to say, for the sins and non-virtuous dharmas that have not arisen, one generates desire in order not to arise. One strives. One initiates diligence. One holds the mind. One establishes it. Similarly, in order to abandon those that have arisen, and in order to generate the virtuous dharmas that have not arisen, and in order for those that have arisen to abide, increase, expand, and in order to arise again. Among them, generating desire is armor-like diligence. That which is called striving in that way is exertion, which is diligence. Initiating diligence is the diligence of a person. Holding the mind and establishing it are skillful diligence. Among them, for cowardice, it is holding the mind. For agitation, it is establishing the mind, which is manifest establishment. Miraculous power is a supramundane dharma. The foot of miraculous power, because it is a place, is the foot of miraculous power. That is also fourfold: the samadhi of desire, the samadhi of diligence, the samadhi of mind, and the samadhi of contemplation. Thus, some are those whose minds are combined with strong desire, and from this arises the samadhi of the characteristic of one-pointedness of mind. Some right abandonment is that which, being very much combined with diligence, abandons non-virtue by right abandonment and generates virtuous dharmas themselves. Some are those who completely subdue the mind through quiescence, and superior seeing, and the reasons for equanimity, etc. Some are those who say, "Do I not completely practice even the slightest non-virtue?" What is not practiced at all, whatever one completely examines oneself, is truly near examination. Those that arise and are entangled are long-standing, and in order to abandon the predispositions, one again initiates right abandonment, and the eight aspects of abandonment manifest: desire, diligence, faith, pliancy, mindfulness, awareness, intention, and equanimity. Among them, when does one generate the equipoise of the mundane and supramundane?
