The path of connection! To be connected and bound is to truly exist. Liberation is non-existent. Because of the absence, solitude, and quiescence, neither of those two is perceived. Therefore, all dharmas are neither bound nor liberated. That is the collection of the path of interrelation. What is the Mahayana? In what way can it be known to have truly entered? From where does it arise? Where will it abide? Who will it bring forth? These five questions were asked by Subhuti. The Blessed One said: The six perfections are the Mahayana. It is also as stated in the sutra, that it is the collection of skillful means. The twenty emptinesses spoken of in this sutra are the collection of wisdom. Its brief summary and explanation are in the sutra itself. What is unclear therein will be explained: In terms of the nature of the completely imputed, everything is non-existent. Because of non-existence, there is neither abiding nor cessation, neither permanence nor impermanence; this is its meaning. Therefore, it is empty by that. Regarding the emptiness of inner and outer, the inner is empty by the outer because there is no object. The outer is empty by the inner because it is not the object of those. The emptiness of emptiness means that each or all of the dharmas is emptiness. Being empty by itself is the emptiness of emptiness. The great emptiness is the emptiness of directions because it pervades the ten directions. Birth and death, abiding and change, these are the characteristics of conditioned phenomena: the characteristics of complete arising and cessation, momentary and continuous, the former and the latter continuous and dissimilar; this is its meaning. The opposite of that is the characteristic of unconditioned phenomena. The emptiness of those two is, in order, the emptiness of conditioned phenomena and the emptiness of unconditioned phenomena. Because it is limitless, it is beyond limits, it is the enjoyment body. Its emptiness is the emptiness beyond limits. Because there is no limit of beginning and end, there is no beginning and end, which is samsara. Its emptiness is the emptiness without beginning and end. There is no abandonment, there is nothing to be abandoned.

Nāpa, which is the Mahāyāna. Its emptiness is the emptiness that cannot be abandoned. Because it is not made by the Tathāgata and others, it is self-nature, the self-nature of dharmas, which is its emptiness. Because the three times are mutually unattainable, it is unattainable, which is its emptiness. The nature arising from conditioned phenomena is neither non-existent nor the nature itself, so it is the nature of non-existence. How can the nature arising from combination be non-existent? Even if there is near-grasping, if there is nothing else, it is non-existent. Therefore, the dharmas of aggregation and so on are non-existent, because they are interdependent origination. Thus it is said. That emptiness is the emptiness of the nature of non-existence. Because of birth, it is existent. Its emptiness by its own nature is the emptiness of existence. Because there is no birth, it is non-existent, its emptiness by its own nature is the emptiness of non-existence. The non-perverted nature of dharmas is one's own nature, because it is not made by wisdom and vision. That is its emptiness by its own nature. This is also supreme, so it is also other, and because it is the nature not made by others, it is also nature, so that is the nature of other, which is suchness. That is its emptiness by its own nature, that is the collection of wisdom. There, from those called heroic conduct and so on, to those who are liberated and unattached like the sky, these samādhis are the non-conceptual, undefiled, and transcendental nature of the minds of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. By the power of previous attention, when each performs activities separately, various names are spoken. Possessing that itself is the collection of merit. The collection of paths should be explained, the aspects of enlightenment and so on are the path. Among them, what is it that correctly understands? It is mindfulness. Those mindfulnesses are four by the difference of objects: mindfulness of the body, mindfulness of feelings, mindfulness of the mind, and mindfulness of dharmas.
