Below the slightly lesser sixth chapter, having entered the Lion's Arising Samadhi, that Bodhisattva individually examines dependent origination as it is stated in the sutra. "Incompatible with the system" means contrary to the system. That Lion's Arising Samadhi is also taught below the sixth chapter, sixth section, and below that, the Transcending Samadhi is taught. That transcendence is the path of meditation. Furthermore, the author of the treatise said: "In the nine meditative absorptions with cessation, having gone back and forth in two ways, the consciousness belonging to the desire realm, holding the boundary of non-equanimity, enters into transcendence, one and two, three, four, and five, six and seven and eight, having transcended, goes differently until cessation." This is what was said. "Is," which means the remainder. How is it? Having gone in two ways in the nine meditative absorptions. How does it go in nine? Until cessation. Having made cessation the end, it means the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, and the absorption of cessation. That is one going, as in the "Subhuti's Question Sutra," from "Subhuti, what is the Transcending Samadhi of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva?" to "having attained and abided in the cessation of perception and feeling." How is it that it goes in nine? Until transcending one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, and eight with cessation. "The consciousness belonging to the desire realm, holding the boundary of non-equanimity," means that it goes to the ultimate end of the non-equanimous mind. This is the second going, that is, having arisen from the absorption of cessation, entering into the first dhyana, until having arisen from the absorption of cessation, abiding in the non-equanimous mind. Here, each of the eight meditative absorptions is entered into after cessation, but the ninth cannot be entered into, because it is unreasonable to arise from cessation into cessation. Therefore, because of the nearness
