From "practicing in desire" to "generating roots of virtue," all that is said constitutes the second moment of distinction to be understood by the wisdom of the wise. That which is uncommon to the Hearers and others is both this and wisdom, its essence being uncommon wisdom itself. O Blessed One, from "if" to "accumulated in forbearance," all that is said constitutes the third moment of distinction of uncommon wisdom. Knowing quickly, decreasing, and without increasing. Knowing quickly is the very swiftness of direct cognition. From "O sons of the gods" to "extensively taught," all that is said constitutes the fourth moment of the truth of arising, distinguished by the swiftness of direct cognition. Decreasing and without increasing is the very absence of decreasing and increasing. From "practicing in desire" to "not even knowing increase or decrease," all that is said constitutes the first moment of the truth of cessation, distinguished by the absence of decreasing and increasing. Accomplishing and truly accomplishing. Accomplishing is the Blessed One diligently striving with faith and so forth, even without having heard. From "practicing in desire," immediately upon hearing, faith arises. All that is said constitutes the second moment of the distinction of accomplishing. Truly accomplishing is the fruit. Immediately upon hearing, faith and so forth arise, and these will truly and completely become enlightenment. Furthermore, upon hearing this, whatever laziness, ignorance, or discouragement there may be, these are inferior enlightenments. From "please ask" to "it should be known that one will abide in one of them," is the third moment of the distinction of truly accomplishing. The object of focus is like a person whose boat is wrecked in the great ocean, if they grasp a corpse, wood, planks, and so forth, they will reach land without dying in the intermediate state. Similarly, O Blessed One, whatever is engaged in from the perfection of meditation and so forth, up to omniscience, these are without dying in the intermediate state, without directly realizing inferior enlightenment, attaining perfect and complete enlightenment.

Will become fully enlightened. What is said from "What, Subhuti, is like this" to "will become fully enlightened" is the fourth moment of cessation by means of the distinction of the object. What is called "with support" is that which is together with support, which is with support. In relation to all, the word "with" is a neuter term. The support of the path is the Bodhisattva, who, by means of the perfection of wisdom and skillful means, etc., in the order of fully ripening, will manifest perfect enlightenment, but in the meantime will not fall into inferior enlightenment. For example, if a pot is well-baked and filled with water, and taken home, it will not be destroyed and fall to the ground in the meantime. What is said from "Subhuti, it is like this, for example" to "will become enlightened" is the first moment of the truth of the path by means of the distinction of the support. What is called "all" is the collection of the distinctions of the path, such as wisdom and skillful means. Because of that, one will manifest perfect enlightenment, but in the meantime it will not be inferior enlightenment. For example, if a ship entering the ocean is well-repaired and well-trained, and sent with favorable winds and water, it will reach the desired place, but will not be destroyed in the meantime. What is said from "Subhuti, it is like this, for example" to "will not fall to the level of a solitary Buddha" is the distinction of all, which is the second moment. What is called "completely holding" is that the Bodhisattva who is truly and completely held by the perfection of wisdom and skillful means, etc., will surely realize perfect enlightenment. For example, if an old man is held from the left and right by two strong men, it is like reaching the desired place. What is said from "Subhuti, it is like this, for example" to "will arise as the all-knowingness" is the moment said by the distinction of complete holding.

Third section. 'Without savor' means that in this case, all the roots of virtue of a Bodhisattva are completely dedicated to unsurpassed Bodhi, and with respect to perfect and complete Bodhi, from form up to omniscience, there is no conceptualization, which means it is not easy to contemplate. There is no desire for anything from form up to omniscience. From 'Endowed with life, Subhuti' to 'Son of good family, all phenomena are empty by their very nature,' the fourth moment of the truth of the path is distinguished by the absence of savor. 'Distinction is' and so forth, is the conclusion showing the meaning of the word 'distinction.' Having thus shown the characteristics of distinction, the characteristics of function are to be stated, namely: Benefit and happiness and protection, Are the refuge of people, Place and friend and island, And the term guide, Spontaneous accomplishment and the three vehicles', The lord who directly realizes the fruit, Ultimately, the act of benefiting beings, This is the characteristic of function. Thus it was said. 'Of people' should be connected to everything. The words benefit and happiness and so forth, show its function. Among them, one enters Bodhi for the sake of benefiting and bringing happiness to the world, and after perfectly awakening to Buddhahood, one becomes the protector and refuge of the world and so forth. Benefit means causing sentient beings to be liberated from the five destinies and placing them individually in Nirvana. From 'Subhuti' to 'one has truly entered for the benefit of the world,' the function of benefit is taught. Happiness means being freed from all suffering and being placed individually in Nirvana. From 'Subhuti, how' to 'one has truly entered for the sake of happiness,' the function of happiness is taught. Protection means teaching the Dharma in order to abandon the suffering that exists in Samsara. From 'Subhuti, how' to 'is the protector of the world,' the function of protection is taught. Refuges and so forth, means
