If the eight stages of Abhisamayalankara of the Prajnaparamita in three forms, extensive, intermediate, and concise, are explained, then what is the need to compose this treatise? It is said in response: The nature of omniscience is the path; what does the teacher explain from this? Because others have not experienced it, those with intelligence will realize it. Possessing the nature of the ten practices of Dharma, placing the meaning of the sutras in remembrance, it is easy to realize; this is the purpose of composing. That is to say, the characteristic of generating certainty without doubt in the minds of qualified disciples regarding the eight Abhisamayalankaras in their proper order is the purpose of this treatise, as stated in the first verse. The characteristic of practicing as the cause for attaining the fruit of Buddhahood is the necessity of the necessity, as stated in the second verse. This is the general meaning. Now, the meaning of the words will be explained: The nature of omniscience refers to Buddhahood itself. The Tathagata, the embodiment of the three Kayas—Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya—is the meaning of the eighth Dharmakaya Abhisamayalankara, which becomes the fruit. The path refers to the seven Abhisamayalankaras associated with it. Therefore, the nature of omniscience is the path, just like a bullock cart. The nature of omniscience, the path itself, is the nature of the eight Abhisamayalankaras. The teacher refers to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. Explanation refers to the explanation and summary of the Prajnaparamita Sutras in three forms: extensive, intermediate, and concise. What is it like? Because others have not experienced it. Not experienced means not practiced. Others refer to the Shravakas and others who lack compassion, which will be explained in the subsequent order. Those with intelligence refer to the Bodhisattvas. From this refers to from this treatise, the Abhisamayalankara. Will realize means will definitely realize. This is the meaning of the first verse. The meaning of the sutras refers to the meaning of the Prajnaparamita Sutras, which is this treatise possessing the nature of the eight Abhisamayalankaras, capable of in order as

Realizing without any doubt. The self is also the practice of the ten perfections such as generosity. Mindfulness is the wisdom of mindfulness. Abiding is arising. Easily realized because of having wisdom. Having practiced the union as it is, and having cultivated it as the cause of Buddhahood, thereby obtaining the characteristics of Buddhahood, this is the supreme characteristic of a great person, so actually see it directly. Thus, seeing that there are two kinds of necessity, therefore, no one should consider this treatise to be unnecessary. Now I will explain the meaning of the words of the Prajñāpāramitā. Among them, starting from the words "Prajñāpāramitā is," eight things are explained in two verses, which is a brief summary of the body of the treatise. Then, again, with thirteen verses, these eight things of the nature of the body of the Prajñāpāramitā are divided into ten, eleven, nine, eleven, eight, thirteen, four, and four, in order, for a total of seventy things, thereby explaining the body of the treatise in detail. These seventy things are also explained by all the remaining treatises, therefore, the general meaning is that the meanings of the Prajñāpāramitā are expressed in a concise and extensive manner. For the sake of briefly explaining the Prajñāpāramitā, it is said: Prajñāpāramitā is, truly explained by eight things. All-knowingness, path knowledge. Then all-knowingness. All-perfect enlightenment, summit and gradual. One instant of perfect enlightenment. Dharmakāya and likewise eight. Thus it is said. Here, only that alone is called Prajñāpāramitā. Thus, different from matter, inseparable from the Sambhogakāya, emptiness that is extremely pure by the direct perception of self-awareness, is the Dharmakāya that actually directly sees. Emptiness that is extremely pure is also its

By way of place, it is the Prajñāpāramitā. The Sambhogakāya is also the Prajñāpāramitā because it is its basis. All the collections of qualities that are divided by the distinctions made by reversing the powers, fearlessness, etc., which rely on the Sambhogakāya, are also because they are one entity with it and have the same basis. The Nirmāṇakāya together with its activities is also because it is its fruit or activity. The seven Abhisamayas are also called Prajñāpāramitā because they are its cause. The eight Abhisamayas are the objects of expression of the word called Prajñāpāramitā. In that, generating the mind and instructions, the four aspects of ascertainment, the basis of practice, the nature of the Dharmadhātu, the objects and purposes, the armor, the activity of entering, the retinue and the definite arising, are the all-knowingness of the Sugata. In that, generating the mind and instructions, being in accordance with the aspect of ascertainment, the basis of practice, the object of practice, the activity for the sake of practice, the armor of practice, the entry of practice, the retinue of practice, and the definite arising of practice, these ten entities are the nature of all-knowingness. Among them, "the all-knowingness of the Sugata" shows the all-knowingness itself. Making sounds and so on, and the path of the Śrāvaka, whatever qualities of this and others, the path of seeing great benefit, doing and disbelief, praise and reverence and accumulation, dedication and rejoicing, and unsurpassed attention, practice and utterly pure, this activity is the path of meditation, for the wise Bodhisattvas, the knowledge of the path is explained as such. Among them, making sounds and so on is the basis, the path of the Śrāvaka, the path of the Pratyekabuddha, great benefit is the path of seeing of the Bodhisattva, the activity of the path of meditation, faith and attention, praise, reverence, and glorification, dedication of attention, rejoicing attention, practice, utterly pure.
