Thus it is said. Non-existence is because there is no nature of permanence. Non-arising is not arising more than a single moment. Whatever arises without increasing is destroyed as soon as it arises, like a water bubble. Therefore, non-existence is suffering itself, as it is impermanent and constantly ceases. Non-arising is the suffering of conditioned existence, with each moment perishing. Solitude is due to the agent, purity, and so on. Non-trampling is because of selflessness; one is not trampled because one realizes the absence of self. Likewise, one should understand accordingly with respect to others. The meanings of the words are easy to understand, so they are not explained separately. The suchness taught by all Buddhas—it is impossible for any Buddha to appear without teaching suchness. However, some Buddhas teach with one vehicle. Some teach with three vehicles in order to guide inferior beings. Still others teach with five vehicles in order to dispel the fear of those to be trained. As it is said in the Mahāyāna sūtra, the *Ten Wheels of Kṣitigarbha*: 'If one gives milk to drink to a phlegm disease, it will turn into poison and not cure the disease. Likewise, if those who are not vessels, the Śrāvakayāna, hear the teaching of the Mahāyāna, they will become confused, cling to annihilation, and fall into the lower realms. Therefore, one should examine the faculties and teach the Dharma.' It is to be known that the extensive teaching of the one vehicle is taught in the *Lotus Sūtra*. Thus, the suchness taught by all Buddhas is nirvāṇa. What is nirvāṇa? It is the complete purity of suchness, and therefore it is taught as the Dharma of the Buddhas. All dharmas are conditioned and unconditioned. To have mastery over them is to abandon, to realize, to teach, and to generate, to negate, to make an eon into a moment, and to bless a moment into an eon, and so on. Thus, to have mastery over all dharmas is the power of self-origination. What is self-origination? It is self-originated wisdom. It is twofold: the sphere of Dharma and that attained by the last existence.

This is the wisdom of all-knowing. Regarding that, in terms of the Dharmadhatu, as it is said in the Noble Array of Trees Sutra: "For some world realms, even if there are inconceivable words, the sky will not be destroyed, and so is self-born wisdom." How is that self-born wisdom? Because it is not made by the aspects of cause and condition, and because it is the cause of non-conceptual wisdom. In other scriptures, such as the Sutra of the Victorious Mother, it is said: "The object of wisdom is not anything, and wisdom is not the object of anything, wisdom is without an object. If wisdom had an object, it would become non-wisdom." Therefore, some consider the pure Dharmadhatu itself to be wisdom. If it is considered in this way, it will contradict statements such as "the Buddha-ground is summarized by the five extremely gathered dharmas." In terms of obtaining the wisdom of all-knowing through all existence, the Bodhisattva pleases the virtuous friend for a long time, hears the teachings extensively taught by the virtuous friend, and thus attains wisdom without a teacher in this life, therefore, because he is unreserved to others, it is self-born. As it is said in the sutra: "I will become a Buddha, I have no teacher." and so on. Among them, the first self-born refers to the Suchness previously mentioned, which is proclaimed by all Buddhas. Here, the second self-born is taken to mean that self-birth can also be obtained through the power of long-term habituation, and similarly, through the power of habituation, one can also control all dharmas, as it is said: "There is nothing that cannot become easy through habituation." Control can also be obtained through the power of accumulating merit for a long time, as it is said in the sutra: "All the thoughts of a person with increasing merit will be accomplished." Details can be learned from the Sutra of the Merit of the Power of Youthful Merit. Furthermore, the main factor in controlling all dharmas is: "Apart from the Dharmadhatu, there is no such dharma." and "One thing is the nature of all things, and all things are the nature of one thing. Whoever realizes the Suchness of one thing as it is, he will...
